Make game day an absolute breeze by making this super delicious 5-ingredient sour cream and chive dip for cheese curds, guaranteed to be a crowd pleasing dish!
So, can we talk about game day and snacks for a second? Life gets so crazy busy that sometimes…like the best of them (I hope)… I don’t feel like making anything that will take me more than 10 minutes from start-to-finish! I was at the grocery store with friends on their way to our house, so I walked over to the freezer section to see what my options were and saw Wisconsin Breaded Cheddar Cheese Curds by Farm Rich.
Interesting…cheese curds? I totally had to give them a try, because if you’ve spent any time in Wisconsin, you’ll know that fried cheese curds are pure amazingness. They’re typically only seen at the State Fair or in restaurants. Funny little story about me and cheese curds…when my hubby and I first started dating, we went to the State Fair. I had never had cheese curds, so we got some. I loved them, cheesy cheddar in a crispy breading. Heaven! So I um…I literally had like 3 orders of them at the State Fair, love at first bite. 😉
Something else that is very much a ‘Wisconsin’ centric thing is sour cream and chive dip (just like how this green goddess dip is a thing I learned about in Wisconsin, WI is clearly killin’ it!). It goes so well for dipping cheese curds (or really, anything) into. And the thing I love about the dip is that it takes about 1 minute to make! With 5 simple ingredients: sour cream, mayo, lemon juice, garlic salt and chives, it is perfect for this week’s Five Ingredient Friday. This dip can also be made ahead of time, saving time on game day.
With my newly purchased Cheddar Cheese Curds, I headed home to give them a try, and I have to tell you – being completely honest here, I was SO SURPRISED BY HOW GOOD THEY WERE! The taste is spot on. It’s literally like eating fresh fried cheese curds – but these are baked. All you do is open the package and bake them, that is it! So easy and delicious!
Farm Rich offers tips, hacks, recipes and awesome tasting foods that help simply everyday life, and they have a whole section of their website dedicated to “Real-Life Good.”
Everyone who came over for the game was greeted by me saying “omg you have to try these cheese curds” – and they’d try them and then raved about them, because they’re so delish! The Cheese Curds from Farm Rich are lightly breaded, get crispy to a golden perfection, and have Wisconsin cheddar in the center and go perfectly with this 5-ingredient sour cream and chive dip. Next party you have, these should definitely be on the menu! I was so jazzed about this dip & cheese curd combination I even made it to bring to my in-laws’ house for a family dinner appetizer.

Ooo – this dip!! Our friend brought us some cheese curds a couple months ago from Wisconsin and we fried them but had NO idea what to serve them with – we could have used this sour cream dip! Sounds like a perfect pairing. Also I want more cheese curds. 😀

Thank you so much Sarah! This dip is seriously one of my all-time-faves. It’s great for when you have guests coming over last minute and don’t have time to cook something! It’s also one of those awesome dips for potato chips or veggies…ok, I’m making myself hungry just thinking about it lol. Thank you again for your lovely comment.

I have yet to make it to the Wisconsin state fair, but even when I was in the Twin Cities, and a regular at the Minnesota State Fair, I went for the cheese curds!
My husband would be thrilled if he could have curds at home, so we will try these! And this dipping sauce with them? Yum!!

Thank you so much for your lovely comment! I truly think your hubby would looooove these. I gotta tell you – mine went nuts over them, and we were both surprised by how good and spot-on the flavor was! And the dip, omg, I could just eat the dip forever, it’s so yummy!

Love your blog! I am looking for a “Wisconsin” recipe for what is probably a 5 ingredient dip that I had at a party on Green Lake.a number of years ago. It was basically cucumbers and sour cream but there was more to it then just that. The cucumbers were chopped. When I asked for the recipe the answer I got was……everyone in Wisconsin know how to make that. I don’t and it still haunts me! HELP!!!

Oh my goodness, that is crazy that they didn’t tell you what was in it. But I think I know what dip you’re talking about. It is this sour cream and chive dip, but you add in 1/2 teaspoon of dill, and 1 cucumber, shredded. Make sure you shred the cucumber first, separately, and then drain off the water. Then add all the ingredients fro this sour cream and chive dip and the dill, mix it up, and voila! I’m going to be posting something very similar to that dip, but yogurt based in the next month, so stay tuned, but I hope that helps 🙂

I’m embarrassed to say this reminds me of the dip I ate as a kid with my potato chips. That’s not an insult by the way, it’s delicious. This looks like a perfect tasty game day treat!

Aw, I love that this reminds you of a dip you had when you were a kid. This dip is super nostalgic for me too, I have been making it for years, ever since my mom taught me how to put together a quick no-bake dip for when guests are coming over last minute 😉
