Freezer Peach Crumble

Oh my gosh, THIS is the perfect peach dessert.  And it is SO EASY to make.  Can you sense my excitement? You’re going to fall in love with this freezer peach crumble, that lets you enjoy peaches any time of the year, because it’s an amazing freezer dessert recipe (meaning you literally can take peaches out of the freezer, add a few crumble topping and pop it in the oven!)

You may have seen on my Instagram page that I bought a giant crate of Georgia peaches a few weeks ago.  Well, I brought them home and Nick immediately asked me with a skeptical look “what are you going to do with all of those peaches?”  Well, I had a plan.  Make all of the delicious peach things….obviously.  But even after making a bunch of peach cobblers and having fresh peaches daily, I had some leftover (about 3o peaches to be exact).

How to make the best peach crumble with fresh peaches

Once I had had my fill of peach recipes for one week, I knew I wanted to freeze the remaining peaches to use the next time I craved something tasty, and I really didn’t want them to go to waste.

Peach filling for freezer peach crumble

So, I whipped together some peach pie filling to freeze.  As with the theme of this post, the frozen peach pie filling is also SO simple to make.  To make frozen peach pie filling, I just combined the peaches with lemon juice, flour, sugar and cinnamon.  I had 30 leftover peaches, so it made a total of three total batches.  I split the peach pie filling into three equal parts, put them into gallon ziplock bags and placed them in the freezer.

The best tasting freezer peach crumble

Freezer peach pie filling recipe:

  • 30 peeled/pitted peaches, roughly sliced
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons flour (or cornstarch)
  • Juice of 1 lemon

Since I already had the frozen peach filling ready, I knew I could quickly whip together a peach crumble to share with a friend.  To make the crumble, it’s just a few quick steps:

  1. Take peach pie filling out of freezer, cut off the bag, cut the filling up with a knife and throw it in a pan
  2. Add oat topping
  3. Bake

That’s it!

To make the topping for this peach crumble, you only need oats, butter and brown sugar.  The key to a good crumble is to be sure the butter you are using is cold.  I keep my butter in the freezer so I pull a stick out, cube it up and drop it on top of the oats.  Sprinkle your oats and brown sugar on top of the frozen peaches and throw it in the oven!  The topping doesn’t need to be mixed at all; it’s simply plopped right on top of the frozen peaches.  I love any shortcut that will save me from any extra dish washing!

How to make the best ever oeach crumble

Now comes the hardest part….waiting….if you’re baking from frozen, the crisp will need an hour and 20 minutes in the oven.  If you’re using fresh peaches, you’ll only need to wait 45 minutes to enjoy all of the goodness!

Thank you so much for commenting Nancy. Yes, I could definitely recommend a substitute for peaches- I’d say apples or pears would be amazing with this recipe!
