This apple cider ginger beer mule cocktail is the epitome of fall in a glass. It is so good, refreshing and I want to make it over and over.
One of my favorite parts about this recipe is that it is only 5 ingredients (perfect for my Five-Ingredient Fridays series where I post a new 5-ingredient recipe on Fridays).
- Vodka – be sure to use a decent vodka for this recipe. I like using Titos or Absolute.
- Apple cider – this is best when it comes fresh from a local orchard
- Lime juice – helps add the touch of tart in this recipe.
- Ginger Beer – this is available at stores or you can buy it on Amazon here.
- Apple slices or lime – you can use either or both for a garnish
Nick is the cocktail maker in our house. He enjoys it and is great at it. So, coming up with new cocktail recipes is always especially fun because I get to brainstorm with him. One cocktail that Nick and I enjoy so much is my recipe for an apple cider old fashioned, that is also only 5 ingredients. Another recipe that uses fresh cider from the orchard. And we love making Moscow mules, so this is a fun updated version of a Moscow mule.
How do you make am apple cider ginger beer mule cocktail?
- Fill a copper mule mug with ice (Crate & Barrel has the beautiful mugs you see pictured – available in cooper, graphite and gold – here). Pour vodka over ice. Add apple cider.
- Slice a lime and squeeze in juice. Freshly squeezed is always best.
- Top with ginger beer. Stir to combine
- Garnish with a slice of apple and a wedge of lime.
Are there any substitutions you can make in this recipe?
- I tried this recipe with a pumpkin apple cider and it was also surprisingly delicious. The pumpkin cider had just enough of a hint of pumpkin and it wasn’t over-powering at all. You could also make this with cherry cider!
- If you don’t have ginger beer, you can use ginger ale in this cocktail, but it will make the cocktail significantly sweeter, with a bit less of a fresh ginger taste.
- Feel free to substitute gin or even rum in place of vodka if you prefer a different liquor.
If you’re on the hunt for a great, fresh apple cider, there is a super popular orchard in our area (Alyssa actually mentioned it in last week’s Love List) called Elegant Farmer. They have amazing cider and a million other great products as well (their apple pies in a paper bag are famous).
This apple cider ginger beer mule cocktail is super simple to make, uses fresh ingredients and is perfect to enjoy this fall season.
