Simply package the biscotti in a glass jar (like this), tie with a ribbon and gift it with your favorite coffee and a mug. Delicious and thoughtful!
What ingredients do you need for this biscotti?
- Butter, softened
- Granulated sugar
- Eggs
- Almond extract
- Cocoa powder
- All-purpose flour
- Baking powder
- Dried cherries
- Mini chocolate chips
This biscotti is so simple to make, but be sure to read the whole recipe because you will indeed bake this recipe twice – that’s what helps to dry it out enough and give that great crunchy biscotti-texture that is perfect for dipping.
How do you make chocolate cherry biscotti?
- Preheat oven to 350. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking.
- In a bowl, mix butter and sugar until well combined. Add in eggs and beat. Add in almond extract. Add flour, cocoa powder and baking powder. Stir. Add in dried cherries and mini chocolate chips. Combine.
- With lightly floured hands, divide dough into 2 log-shapes, about 10 inches each. Pat down to about 3 inches thick.
- Bake for 20 minutes, or until set. Remove from the oven and let cool for 5-10 minutes. Then cut diagonally into ½ inch pieces. Place cut side down on baking sheets.
- Lower oven temperature to 300. Bake for 20 minutes, until dry to touch. Rotate baking sheets and cook for another 3-5 minutes if needed.
- Remove from oven and drizzle chocolate on top (optional).
- Store in an airtight container for up to one month.
I love to dip my biscotti in hot coffee, but a friend suggested dipping it in hot chocolate too. Chocolate on chocolate – can’t be too bad right?!
Alternative options to this recipe:
- Diced almonds in addition to cherries
- Try a different dried fruit
- Add white chocolate chips instead of mini chocolate chips
If this isn’t quite enough chocolate, you could drizzle some chocolate on top of this biscotti. As I said above, you can never have enough chocolate, right?!

Quite surprised as to why these don’t have a higher rating. Just came back to the site to grab the recipe for the fourth time! 🙂 Absolutely delicious with coffee in the mornings for a decadent breakfast-ran out last week and realized I was literally sad bc I didn’t have my morning biscotti to look forward to! Making some again in a bit here. Thank you Sweet Phi!

I made this last year, it was amazing ! My question is can you freeze the dough nd bake it later?

So glad you loved these! That’s a great question, I’m so sorry but I’ve never made these from the freezer, but I’d assume they’d work ok. Please let me know if you do try it.
