Today’s post is a funny one, appropriately called “that time I tried to make cookie crumble iced coffee from Cosmo’s snapchat”… the imperative word being ‘tried’ …because after following the directions and feeling super proud of myself and expecting a delicious cookie crumble iced coffee (sounds amazing, doesn’t it?) the end result was probably one of the grossest things I’ve ever made.
Let me tell you what happened.
So by now you know I LOVE Snapchat (follow “sweetphi” to view my stories – Snapchat is a fun picture/video conversational app – I spoke about it and shared some funny photos when I shared the recipe for brown sugar and honey baked grapefruit a while back) and one thing that everyone has on their Snapchat stories is updates under the heading ‘discover’ from various media outlets, one of which just so happens to be Cosmopolitan magazine.
The stories in the ‘discover’ section update every 24 hours and are made up of videos, images and text and are available to Snapchat’s audience. Whereas regular snapchat messages disappear within 10 seconds after a user views them, stories are available for viewing for 24 hours. Cosmo shares a variety of fun articles and sometimes includes a recipe.
On one particular day I was perusing the stories and Cosmo had a recipe for cookie crumble iced coffee. It was so beautifully done that I took screen shots and watched the snaps an inappropriate amount of times because I was so mesmerized. I stopped by the grocery store ON THE WAY HOME because I NEEDED that awesome sounding iced coffee in my life STAT. Here are the beautiful images for this recipe:
Looks amazing doesn’t it? You want to go to the grocery store and buy some cookies and milk to make cookie crumble ice cubes for your coffee don’t you?
Well, let me save you some money and heartache.
Don’t, just don’t try to make this recipe.
The cookie bits clump with the frozen milk resulting in this disgusting curdled effect as the ice cubes melt that look like this:
And it just keeps getting worse.
I even tried blending it to make it more of a ‘frappachino’ type drink, but it was gross, the cookie crumbles were soggy and kept getting stuck in the straw and the flavor wasn’t even that good (and do you see on the right hand side of the picture – as the cookie crumble ice cubes melted they curdled more and more – it was painful to look at and I did not want to drink it, I mean would you want to drink that?)
Albeit being one my biggest recipe fails, it was definitely a funny experiment that I just had to share. Last year I shared a post of highlights and failures of 2014 and I have a feeling that this one might appear in the failed recipes of 2015 section lol.
Have you ever had a recipe fail miserably?
