I’m so excited to bring you another month of sharing Everything I Read and Listened to in September 2024. If you want to read previous months, you can read them here. This month I read/listened to a total of 8 books. While I didn’t have any 5/5 there were some close ones and some solid good ones, I’d recommend reading any book I rate 4 or higher to someone. Let’s dive in
The Wedding People– 4.5/5 – Very catchy story, with all the great chemistry the characters had I was surprised there wasn’t more/any spicy/steamy. The writing is very good and engaging, I kept wanting to know what happened next. “A NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER. A Today Show #ReadwithJenna Book Club Pick. A propulsive and uncommonly wise novel about one unexpected wedding guest and the surprising people who help her start anew.”
Sideline Confidential -3/5– (book, audiobook) I purchased this audiobook because the narrator, Julia Whelan is my favorite and has an audiobook library called Audiobrary where she released this in. So, I loved the narration-why I bought it- but the book/story ended super abruptly and wasn’t really resolved, so it was odd to me. Like I wanted to know what happened. “A young sports journalist soon learns the toughest hits occur off the field.”
The Pairing -2/5-listened to it, lovely chapter transitions with a little music and pairing notes, but a little too dirty for me-think multiple partners of multiple genders. Went from super cute love story to like very dirty, almost like a different book in the second half. “In #1 New York Times bestselling author Casey McQuiston’s latest romantic comedy, two bisexual exes accidentally book the same European food and wine tour and challenge each other to a hookup competition to prove they’re over each other―except they’re definitely not.”
How to Become a People Magnet: Short and sweet. Some of it was meh but definitely gems in there, like let people answer yeses before asking them for something because they’re more likely to say yes again! I’d rate this 4/5, but I hate rating self help/advice type books because everyone is so different and it’s very personal. This was in a list of ’10 books that changed my life’ and I don’t think it’s a wrong choice, it just wasn’t as life changing to me, but it was a good read.
Same As It Ever Was -3/5– kinda long, a little boring but interesting enough to keep going, was on a “best books people read in 2024 so far” list at number one!! It’s really long. Was boring, nothing happened really and the main character was really hard to like. “NATIONAL BESTSELLER • NAMED A BEST BOOK BY PEOPLE AND PARADE • The New York Times bestselling author of The Most Fun We Ever Had (“wonderfully immersive…deliciously absorbing”—NPR) returns with another brilliantly observed family drama in which the enduring, hard-won affection of a long marriage faces imminent derailment from events both past and present.”
Big Fan -4.5/5– It was a cute short romance, I liked it and loved that it was short after Same As It Ever Was lol. ”

Just Another Missing Person -4.5/5– really good twists, did not see it coming type thriller. “From the author of the Reese’s Book Club Pick and the New York Times bestseller Wrong Place Wrong Time comes a new heart-stopping thriller in which a missing-person case unravels deeper, darker secrets that lead a detective to an impossible moral choice.”
Summer Romance –4/5 -very cute, loved their back history. Very much like Nora Goes Off Script I thought. Loved that the characters are older than 20 lol. “The romantic and hilarious story of a professional organizer whose life is a mess, and the summer she gets unstuck with the help of someone unexpected from her past, by the bestselling author of Nora Goes Off Script.”
