Everything I Read and Listened to in June 2024

Jul 2, 2024 · Leave a Comment

This month flew by! I managed to read/listen to 8 books, and there were 3 5-star reviews!! Read previous months here, now let’s dive in to everything I read and listened to in June of 2024.

Everything I read in June 2024 this image

Listen for the Lie 5/5– listened to it, loved how they did the audio of going back and forth with the podcast, it sounded really good as an audiobook!! Loooved the story, it was just such a good book, highly recommend this thriller. “What if you thought you murdered your best friend? And if everyone else thought so too? And what if the truth doesn’t matter?”

I re-read these next two because they’re being made into movies and I had kind of forgotten the stories, wow, so glad I read one book and listened to the other, it was honestly like reading them for the first time again because it had been so long, loved both!!

It Ends With Us 5/5– such a good raw story, I cried, has domestic violence trigger warnings! “In this “brave and heartbreaking novel that digs its claws into you and doesn’t let go, long after you’ve finished it” (Anna Todd, New York Times bestselling author) from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of All Your Perfects, a workaholic with a too-good-to-be-true romance can’t stop thinking about her first love.”
My Oxford Year 5/5– re listened to this one, so good, written and narrated by my favorite narrator Julia Whelan. This one has a little bit of spice! “Set amid the breathtaking beauty of Oxford, this sparkling debut novel tells the unforgettable story about a determined young woman eager to make her mark in the world and the handsome man who introduces her to an incredible love that will irrevocably alter her future – perfect for fans of JoJo Moyes and Nicholas Sparks.”
Rules for Second Chances 3/5 – listened to it, why was the narrator whispering half the time? Really distracting. The story was cute, I just overall didn’t love it, it was kind of slow, and again, the whispering lol. I wanted more romance. “Brimming with heart and heat, Rules for Second Chances explores the hardest relationship question of all: can true love happen twice…with the same person?”
The Rom Commers 3.5/5 a bit blaze in my opinion, the chemistry wasn’t really palpable with the main characters, a boring and not spicy enough, the best part of the book was a fight she had with her sister which really felt real. “She’s rewriting his love story. But can she rewrite her own?” I do know people who marked this as their favorite book of the summer, so there’s that!
Act Your Age Eve Brown 3.5/5 -slow ramp up, a bit spicy. This book has gotten tons of press. I read another book in the series and liked it, but this one was just a bit slow for me. The library had a copy so I had to read it. “In Talia Hibbert’s newest rom-com, the flightiest Brown sister crashes into the life of an uptight B&B owner and has him falling hard – literally.”
This Could Be Us 4/5– I read this because my fave author (Emily Henry) endorsed this book and another fave author (Carley Fortune) shared it on her stories. It’s a cute love story, listened to this one, the male narrators voice is sexy. There was a little sexy time in this book but could have used a little more, loved the epilogue!! “Heart-searing, sensual, and life affirming.”―EMILY HENRY, #1 New York Times bestselling author”
The Accidental Dating Experiment 3/5– This was an audible original so it was free for me. This was an ok romance (spicy) but fell a little flat for me. “A dating experiment ignites a secret attraction in this steamy new rom-com from number one New York Times best-selling author Lauren Blakely!”
