In this month’s reading recap I’m sharing two 5 star books, one a thriller and one a self improvement book (I hate the term self help) and a romance that was spicy and well written! Let’s dive in!
- These Silent Woods by Kimi Cunningham Grant 5/5- ok wow, this book took me by surprise by how good it was. I cried at the end. Such a good story. Listened to this, the narrator was fantastic, soothing voice and really made me feel the anxiety with his voice inflection. The epilogue was just wonderful. “A father and daughter living in the remote Appalachian mountains must reckon with the ghosts of their past in Kimi Cunningham Grant’s These Silent Woods, a mesmerizing novel of suspense.”
- The Fury by Alex Michaelides 3/5– it was a good thriller but I didn’t love the style of story. They would tell a complete story and then say “that wasn’t it, here’s another story, no wait that wasn’t it either, so that was odd to me. It was just ok for me, considering I LOVED his other book, The Silent Patient (in last month’s round up) “A masterfully paced thriller about a reclusive ex–movie star and her famous friends whose spontaneous trip to a private Greek island is upended by a murder ― from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Silent Patient”
- Fangirl Down by Tessa Bailey 4.75/5– such a good story for a romance, a very spicy romance per Tessa Bailey books! I loved the characters and again, the story so much! “#1Â New York Times bestselling author Tessa Bailey launches a super sexy sports romance series with a rom-com about a bad boy professional athlete who falls for his biggest fan…”
- Change Your Paradigm, Change Your Life by Bob Proctor 5/5– I listened to this one, and it’s done like an interview with the author speaking, I really enjoyed it. One big takeaway to improve your mood: write down 10 things you’re grateful for, send love to 3 people that are bothering you, be quiet for 5 minute and ask for guidance for the day – you feel differently and feel better, you can only attract to you what you’re resonating with. You’re putting yourself in a good vibration. Like I said, I listened to this but want to buy it to read and highlight! “When you’re doing something that’s out of the ordinary, your mental programing, your paradigm, will try and stop you. If you want to win, you must keep going. Your paradigms may be masked in complacency, fear, worry, anxiety, insecurities, self-doubt, mental hurry and self-loathing―the result is keeping you STUCK….locked in a box and starved of your dreams and ambitions.”
- Vera Wongs Unsolicited Advice for Murderers by Jesse Q. Sutanto 3/5-this book was just ok for me, nothing I’d recommend to someone looking for a good novel. The story was kind of slow and predictable. There was a small twist at the end. I listened to this book. “A lonely shopkeeper takes it upon herself to solve a murder in the most peculiar way in this captivating mystery by Jesse Q. Sutanto, bestselling author of Dial A for Aunties.”
- Expiration Dates by Rebecca Serle 4/5– I listened to this book because it’s narrated by my favorite narrator, Julia Whelan. I thought it was good but didn’t like how it jumped around so much and I wanted a little more out of the ending. “Being single is like playing the lottery. There’s always the chance that with one piece of paper you could win it all.”
If you’re into audiobooks and romance, I would highly recommend Julia Whelan’s Audiobrary and Cassanova, LLC, it’s wildly good!!
