On this day, 12 years ago, I started blogging! It seems crazy that it’s been over a decade and I’m still here (the Elton John song “I’m Still Standing” runs through my mind). I always like to look back at the past year and share a little bit of how it’s going. This year I recovered from being burnt out and bringing the joy back into blogging. Before we dive in, as always, a huge THANK YOU to you for being part of the SweetPhi community. Every comment, like, share, follow, subscription, all make this possible and are so thoroughly appreciated.
If you read last years’ 11 years blogging post you might have read about the insane content schedule and pressure I had self inflicted. I was pushing to have something published every single day and it had gone from something fun I enjoyed doing to something I dreaded, like trying to feed a never ending content beast and I took a much needed step back.
I was trying to work full time, and I have 4 small kids, I was tired and burnt out to a crisp. I didn’t see it that way though and only recognized the sheer burn out months later. And it took months to draw a balance between working (I now work part time outside of the home and then the rest of the time spend with the kids!!) I’m so happy and grateful I was able to make those changes and that the blog has been able to ebb and flow with me through these changes. Some may not have even noticed a change at all because I had some help behind the scenes in the form of the sweetphi team, now only 1 🙂
I now have found real joy in blogging part time again. I have no crazy schedule and have made it into a hobby again, something that brings me so much happiness – being able to share life and food content with you all in an organic way.
Like the time Nick created the best pumpkin spice pancakes and I got to post them (before I never would have posted them without doing SEO research, making sure that they were posted early enough in the season, setting up a shoot day, we just made these and I had fun photographing them with the kids underfoot and I posted them and it was so fun!).
Some weeks it might look like I post a new recipe, others it might look like me updating an old post and re-sharing it, and other weeks it may look like not a whole lot.
Love lists and newsletters get shared weekly, and those are things I look forward to and love working with Alyssa on (she helps tremendously and makes possible).
Thank you for continuing to make Sweetphi.com a destination for easy recipes, showcasing beautiful content and inspiration, everyday family life, motherhood, and fun finds from around the web!! I hope you’ve enjoyed this 12 year update.
