If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you’ll know how much I enjoy interacting with other bloggers and building community, which is one of the many reasons I’m super excited to share that I’m going to be speaking at the Chopped Conference this year. If you’re visiting SweetPhi.com for delicious food recipes, feel free to skip right over this post and go directly to this 5 ingredient steak and charred corn salad that I cannot stop making, or perhaps to the best salted caramel chocolate chip cookies – they’re so good you won’t be able to eat just one, and tomorrow I’ll be back with another Five Ingredient Friday recipe.
Ok, so a little about Chopped Conference, or #ChoppedCon -it is a food blogging conference, held in Kansas City, on September 22-23, with the mission of “bringing together different communities of people with a passion for food around the core ideas of love, family, and community, and finding ways to share that via blogging to a larger audience.”
I went to Chopped Con two years ago (here is the ChoppedCon 14 review I did), and can tell you that it was truly one of the best conferences I have been to (and I’m saying that after having been to something like 4-5 other conferences.) Not only was the content relevant and good, but there was a great sense of community and welcoming. I also happen to have met my best friend Lynn at ChoppedCon, or rather, I met her because of the conference and it was actually the day after the conference over coffee our friendship started (you can read about the funny thing that happened over breakfast in this post where I shared the recipe for cranberry gingerbread muffins). I feel truly blessed to have met her, and that ChoppedCon brought us together. Not a day goes by that we don’t talk/text/snap/email, my hope is that everyone in life finds a bestie, and hey, you never know where/when you’ll meet, it could just be at a food blog conference!
Now, two years later, I am so happy to tell you that I’m not only helping co-host the conference, but I’m going to be speaking on a panel all about live sharing on social media – i.e., Instagram, @philiakelnhofer (hope we’re friends on Insta because I love Instagram stories!) and Facebook Live (I did a Facebook Live video when I was introducing my cookbook to you and will be doing another one this Friday 8/26 at 6pm cst – I’d love for you to join me!)
Other members on the panel include Monique Volz of Ambitious Kitchen, Bev Weidner of Bev Cooks, Kristen Doyle of Dine and Dish, and will be moderated by Lynn of Order in the Kitchen. I’m so excited, the line up of speakers and the agenda are super incredible!
