What even are Tieks? Well, they are “the most versatile designer flats in the world. Made of the finest Italian leathers and designed to fold and fit in a purse. Wearable all day, every day.” In my opinion, they are the best ballet flats in the worls. And today I’m going to do a Tieks review and answer the question: Are Tieks worth the price tag?
Every time I tell my friends and family – or anyone asking me (I’ve gotten stopped multiple times asking about my cute flats in public) – how incredible the shoes are, they ask me “how much are they?”

I tell them the price (around the $175 price mark for the “Classics Collection”, the ones I have) they make big eyes at me and ask “are they worth it?” So I thought I’d share my experience and do a Tieks review!

Before I got my first pair of Tieks I had been seeing them all over the interwebs. After a little saving I decided to give them a shot and bought my first pair in matte black, I figured they went with everything – and they do!

I received the beautifully packaged shoes, and it was love at first sight: the packaging is adorable – a Tieks blue box (like the bottom of the flats) with a sparkly flower on top and a hand written note inside.

I unfolded the flats and put them on, and boom, the most comfortable pair of shoes I have ever had on my feet!!

Since then, I’ve purchased another pair (this time in Burgundy) and have practically worn them every single day. I’m wearing them as I write this post, and I wore them during the long days I was cooking and recipe testing when I was creating my cookbook Fast and Easy Five-Ingredient Recipes: A Cookbook For Busy People.

What I truly love about Tieks is that there is no break in time, which means no blisters, ladies! I’m talking I took them out of the box and wore them on all around one weekend with zero problems! I literally took them out of the box, put them on at 8 am and wore them to work and school drop off and pick up and grocery shopping and home, and couldn’t tell they were brand new!

You can dress them up or down. I’ve worn them to work (everyday), parties, traveling, weddings, and even hiking!! Yup, you read that right- I’ve worn them hiking (more on that below!)

Also, they saved me from agonizing foot pain and troubles on our recent trip to Europe (Dublin, London, Paris). You see, I had bought these new boots I was going to wear some of the time in Europe (I also brought my Tieks of course) but after the first day I had crazy blisters from the boots from all the walking around we were doing so I put on my Tieks and those are the only shoes I wore for the remainder of the trip. We walked an average of 10-12 miles a day and they gave me zero problems whatsoever: total lifesavers! They even looked super cute in our photo Travelshoot if I do say so myself.

They’re super easy to travel with. They fold in half and fit in your suitcase or purse, taking up very little space. I love wearing them around on the weekends – one of my girlfriends and I (Svetlana, who I went to Kohler with) always wear them to yoga together and then laugh as we make sure we have the right pair because she got the same ones as I have lol, I shared this photo on Instagram.

They make for amazing gifts. You know when someone has done something incredibly nice for you, like something that you can’t really express how much it has meant to you? Tieks are a great expression of thanks! I got my bestie Lynn a pair, isn’t she adorable in them? And p.s., they also make great ‘treat yourself’ gifts, just saying.

There really isn’t anything about Tieks I don’t love, but I did want to paint a complete picture, so here goes: This could totally just be me and my stinky feet (I guess I’m gross?) But after about a year of everyday use they do start to smell a little (could be from all the wearing of them that I do). Thanks to my hubby’s suggestion of spraying a little deodorizer in them and wiping them down, the smell was gone and they were good to go! Dr. Scholl’s Odor Eater is a really great one to use – also using a light soap and water to clean the insoles is helpful and now I do that every few months. I also read somewhere that putting dryer sheets in them when they’re not in use works – I wear them every day…so I haven’t remembered to do that lol.

Remember when we visited northern California with my parents and I shared my 4 ingredient dinner – tortellini with chicken sausage and pesto? It was right after I got my first pair of Tieks and my mom had forgotten her hiking shoes so I let her wear mine and I was left with my Tieks for a five mile hike. And you know what? They were great!
No blisters, no pain, nada! You can see the photo of us hiking and me in my Tieks below! I will forever love my little Tieks because they saved the day!

So, if you were to ask me “are Tieks worth the price tag?” you would hear me loudly exclaim “YES, worth every penny!”… and I’m off to purchase my next pair!
I’d love to know – where would you wear your Tieks for the first time?

I bought my first pair after reading reviews for 6+ months. I finally took the plunge and so very happy I did. I now have 3 pair and ready for #4. Showed them to my niece who is a teacher and now has 4 pairs. I always buy her school clothes for new school year but this year it will be a pair of tieks. We both had ours on today and had to walk all over the hospital. Normally I would be in tears and she too! No tears! Not today not since all We wear are our tieks!!!!
Sweetphi says
Oh my goodness, thank you SO MUCH for sharing your wonderful feedback, so happy to hear how you like the shoes as much as I do!
Cindy says
My first real test for my 1st try w Tieks was walking thru Walmart & Lowe’s w hubby, always a dread. Not now now, I can do laps around both stores. AMAZING!!! My niece just told me yesterday she only wished I had known about Tieks earlier. Me too, we both have blister scars from various tries of trying to find the blister tee shoe. Just ordered my niece a new pair for her school year coming up! I just got excited and couldn’t wait till August!!! Next pair for soon!!!! Thanks for a good post!
FRom one tieks fan to another!!!?♀️

So happy to hear how much you love them Cindy!!

Received my tiekes for mothers day gift. They are pretty. I got taupe, and I wear a size 6. My big toe extends to the end of the shoe. Is this normal or should I get a size 7. My daughter thinks I should wear them and they will stretch. She has a pair and she loves hers. What do you think?
Sweetphi says
What a nice mother’s day gift! I will say that if they’re uncomfortable, you should contact customer service and exchange them, but if they’re comfortable then I’d wear them in 🙂 It just depends on your comfort level.
Brenn says
Thanks for a great review. I have bought two pair so far and am looking to get my third.
Sweetphi says
Thank you – so glad you like them!
Trish Howard says
I bought my first pair of Tieks 3 years ago. I now own 16 pair, most comfortable shoes I have. I wear them with everything. I understand they aren’t for everyone but for me I’m an addict.
Sweetphi says
That’s so awesome to hear Trish, I love them too! I only have 4 pairs…definitely jealous of your collection!
Shelby says
How do these work with people that have plantar fasciitis and tendinitis in the ankles because that is the case for me.
Sweetphi says
I don’t know personally, but I think in the past comments people have said that they do work good!
Susan Steinweg says
I love the way they look. But there’s nothing to the sole as far as barrier to the ground. It was like walking barefoot on concrete. I don’t know how people wear them all day, even hike. There’s no support. It’s like wearing nothing. They are wonderfully made. But not as comfortable for all day walking.
Sweetphi says
Thanks for the comment! I agree, they are super cute. I found that they did in fact have a sole – yes, the sole is thinner than that of a gym shoe, but it does provide cushioning and feel like you’re walking on soft carpet (at least that what I thought lol). Thanks for the feedback though, I always love hearing what other people think of them.
Sandi Downes says
I wanted a pair of tieks for a long time. Once I ordered and they arrived I was so excited. Unfortunately I have bunions on both feet and the top of the shoe didn’t cover the bunions. I returned to Tieks with no problem whatsoever and received a full credit.
Sweetphi says
Thank you for sharing, so sorry they didn’t work with your bunions, but glad to hear that you were able to return them.
Tonya says
I was wondering if tieks ever have clearance shoes. I would love a pair in any color but not in my budget at this time.
Sweetphi says
Oh what a good question. I would have to refer you to Tieks customer service because I do not know the answer to that, but boy would I love a sale on them!
Heavy Hearted Houston says
Thank you all for writing your comments because without these comments I could not make a decision. I’m disappointed that Tieks is like many other companies who produce a great product only to, without noitice, and for whatever reason, change the quality or standards of the product. If the shoes are no longer as comfortable as they once were due to a new leather that has to be used then the company should state that themselves.
Sweetphi says
I’m so glad you found these comments helpful 🙂

I bought a pair several years ago. I wanted these to be my favorite shoes. I have had surgery on my feet to straiten my toes that started to curl because of a stroke. Now I have to wear shoes that have some sort of strap (like a Maryjane) or I have a tendency to walk right out of them. Luckily I had a friend that wanted them and I sold them to her for half the price I paid. I’m so sorry they didn’t work for me.
Sweetphi says
So sorry to hear these didn’t work for you – love that you had a friend who bought them from you!
Kathy says
I am writing this totally to vent. I have very narrow feet….in regards to this….they are great. However, I did not get the immediate comfort feeling. My feet were hurting pretty badly after wearing them the first day. I was expecting a soft, glove-like leather but to be frank….they are hard and unyielding. Could this be the color, possibly…..I bought solid black. To me the leather insoles, which I must say the craftsmanship is amazing, are again, hard and unyielding. I must also say I have weak feet and sometimes have to have my daughter wear some shoes to help me break them in…this is definetely the case with these shoes. I bought a pair for each of my daughters, and if they love them…they will be a repeat Christmas gift each year. At this point, I dont see myself making a repeat purchase. Also, in regards to my narrow feet, the elastic was again, tight and unyielding. I had marks on the top of my feet. Back in the day, when shoes were sold by width, I bought a AAA. I was really surprised to see the mark from the elastic. I will continue to wear them, but for short periods only until they are broken in. Are thry worth the price?… debatable at this point. Appearance…yes…craftsmanship…yes
…comfort for me…a resounding no. I am not a person who returns purchases…so i will keep them. I will be interested to see if the colors chosen by my daughters (I bought gift cards)…will make a difference in the comfort of these very expensive shoes.
Sweetphi says
Hi Kathy, thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback of your experience. So, I’m now on pair 6 or 7 of Tieks…and I unfortunately have to agree with you about the tightness of the leather on my newer pairs. I don’t know if it’s the color or what, but the first few I bought a few years ago when I published this post, they fit my feet like little gloves – gloves made of clouds. Just today after a long day of wearing them and walking all over and back, I noticed lines on my feet from them, and i’ve never seen that before…those are pretty new and in a green color. I used to take them out of the box and would be ready to go! Now, I find i have to wear them in a little, and then they’re good. After wearing them in a little I’d love to hear your feedback. Tieks are still my most favorite shoes in the world, and I’d buy another pair tomorrow (if it wasn’t Christmas lol). Wishing you all the best for the holiday season.

I have two pairs of Tieks, matte black (My first pair) and tangerine. I love them both but wear the black the most. At first, my black pair hurt a bit right where the nerve on the big toe is on the top. So after toughing it out, they broke in and now I wear them all day. No problems at all with the tangerine.
I have had plantar facitites in the past so the foot pad design on the bottom are very suppotive. They do get a bit slippery on wet surfaces however.
I wear a 10 and have a M width foot. Other than the big toe issue w/the black pair, no worries. I am addicted. Colors colors colors..so hard to choose, but my next pair is going to be burgandy…
I love Tieks, comfortable, durable and so feminine. I just feel good wearing them.❤
Sweetphi says
Thanks for sharing Suzanne!

I have a question. I have really wide feet and sometimes walk on the sides of my feet. It’s just how I walk… would you recommend getting these? As most shoes are never comfortable no matter what do I just deal with it, but do you think that the material can withstand the side of my feet rubbing the ground? Would that mess up the shoes and material? Your feedback is greatly appreciated. I am trying to find some shoes for my wedding in January. I don’t want to overspend if they are just going to get ruined by how I walk.
Sweetphi says
Hi Amy,
The sides of the shoe-the leather might get a little scoffed if you walk on the sides of your feet, I would hate to recommend you get the shoes and then have them not work for you because they are so expensive, especially for your wedding! I would maybe ask customer service for the sole width dimensions to see if they would work, but my quick response would be that if you do walk on the sides of your feet, the leather would get ruined.
Hope that helps
Phi

I bought my first two pairs of Tieks two weeks ago, and haven’t had them off mt feet since. I chose burgundy and pacific green, both incredibly versatile. I am usually a 9.5 and was a bit concerned about fit, but a 10 works perfectly. I am 60 and not thin, and have found them to be perfectly comfortable all day. I’m fantasizing about my next pair….feather grey…..
Sweetphi says
So happy to hear that Carol, thanks for sharing!
Ivy Jones says
How awe they in the rain? I live in Oregon and it rains a lot here
Sweetphi says
Hi Ivy, they are ok, but like other shoes, sometimes they do get a little slippery on slick surfaces.

I just found this review and after reading it I finally bought my first pair of Tieks! I’ve been wanting a pair for so long but I too was very weary about the price. I’m hoping they arrive this week!
Sweetphi says
Yay so exciting! Congrats on your first pair!!
Jessica says
Hi! It’s great to hear you wear them in the fall and winter. Do you wear them with socks or tight? And if so, did this influence the sizing (1/2 size up or down if you are in between sizes) that you chose?
Sweetphi says
I do not wear them with socks, but I do wear them with tights, so that doesn’t affect the sizing because they’re thin 🙂
Antibetti says
I wish I could say the same. My experience with tieks is not so great. Because they don’t have half sizes it’s kind of hard to break into them. Also you need to wear some kind of insole support to prevent you from developing “flat footedness” or worse “plantar tendinitis ” which is the case for me unfortunately. I do love the craftsmanship so I’m keeping my pair until I recover from my tendinitis.
Jayme Stidd says
Hello,
I am looking into these for my mother and mother-in-law, possible as Christmas gifts. I am wondering what your opinion would be if they have wide feet? I didn’t read any comments about wide feet but mostly narrow. My mom has planter fasciitis and mother-in-law is constantly saying her feet hurt and swelling in her ankles.
Thanks for your opinion!
Sweetphi says
Hi Jayme, I would say that it just depends on how wide we’re talking. I have feet that are on the wider side and when I was pregnant my feet were a little swollen and I wore Tieks with no problems. I do not have an actual condition like planter fasciitis nor do I buy orthopedic or wide shoes, so I really don’t know how to best answer your comment, sorry! I’d suggest maybe calling their customer service? I’d hate to point you in the wrong direction!
Carol F. says
Hi Jayme. I may be able to shed a little insight regarding Tieks and wide feet. I have wide feet and regularly buy shoes that are available in a wide width. I too read so many Tieks reviews and most of them said they were comfortable for people with wide feet. I splurged and bought three pairs. I ended up sending two pairs back because they really did not accommodate my feet. I kept one pair because I had worn them several times trying to break them in and felt guilty returning a used pair. I still wear the pair I kept but only for a short period of time. I certainly cannot wear them all day, everyday, as many people say they can. I do think they are a high quality product. The return was super easy!
Tammy B says
I’ve been looking at Tieks for a while, but I also have planter fasciitis so bad I wear custom made orthotics. Do you how they’d do with custom orthotics? I’ve heard they are amazing just like your review, but wonder how I’d do in them.
Sweetphi says
Hi Tammy, I’m sorry I can’t answer your question better. I did notice that some other commenters mentioned that they are able to wear the shoes with orthotics in them with no problem, but I personally don’t know if that would work, I’m just basing it off some of the comments I’ve read before (there are over 400 comments on this post, there might be something a little more helpful by someone with experience in them, or you could try contacting Tieks customer service)
Mama J says
Just wanted to thank you for such a thorough and convincing review. It’s such a steep price tag that many of us are in the same boat with deciding to take the plunge. Your review was so helpful, I feel like the company should gift you a free pair!!!
Danielle says
How well do Tieks hold up over time? Like after a year of extensive use, are they still in decent condition?
Sweetphi says
Mine have held up great, I tend to wear them almost ever day in the fall/winter. Some slight wear and tare happens around the heels, but that’s really with any shoe, and a little shoe polish makes them look good as new. I’m on year 3 with one pair of them 🙂
Sylvia says
Thanks for your review. I have been researching the Tieks, and after your review I will be purchasing 3 pair for me and my girls. We are planning an 8 day Disney World trip which will involve miles and miles of walking.
Sweetphi says
That’s so awesome to hear Sylvia!! Have fun at Disney, you ladies will look so awesome in your Tieks 🙂
Lynn benoit says
I’m a hairstylist … sometimes I stand for 10 hours… would tieks be comfortable all ten hours ??
Sweetphi says
I do believe they would be! I have walked all around Europe all day and my feet didn’t hurt at all. the leather is really nice and soft!
Deb says
Would you recommend Tieks for someone with narrow feet?
Sweetphi says
Yes, definitely would 🙂
Jay says
Thank you for your review. I, too, have plantar fasciitis and need arch support. Has anyone tried to put arch supports in Tieks? If so, I’d love to know what kind and how it worked out. Thanks!
Charlotte Glennie says
I do not have bunions, I have a hammertoe. My $150 shoes hurt so bad…can I wear these shoes?
Charlottte Glennie
Sweetphi says
Hi Charlotte, I’m sorry I don’t know how to answer that question…I would refer you to Tieks customer service to see if they’ve ever heard feedback about hammertoe
Linda Brooks says
What is your return policy on tieks? I have planter facilities and I am a little bit afraid of trying tieks.
Sweetphi says
Thank you for your comment. I do not work for Tieks, so I’m not sure how to answer your question, I would suggest that you contact their customer service, I do know that they’re very responsive 🙂
Linda says
I, too, have been thinking about buying a pair. How true to size are they? I can wear a 7 or 7 1/2, depending on the brand.
Sweetphi says
I wear an 8 1/2-9 and i got a 9 🙂 But I’d ask their customer service
Barbara says
I read through all the info, including the comments, and did not read anything about arch support.
Sweetphi says
Hi Barbara, the shoes have a super comfortable sole, but do not have any additional, orthopedic style arch support.
Vanessa says
So, I know this post is about shoes, but can you tell me where you got those pretty floral yoga pants? I want some! 🙂 Also, are you wearing the black Tieks in that photo or are they a grey?
Sweetphi says
Hi Vanessa, haha, no worries, I’m the same way, I’m always like ‘where is xyz’ from. The shoes I’m wearing are black, and my bestie Lynn did a review of those pants which I’ll link to: http://orderinthekitchen.com/albion-fit-review-giveaway/
Megan says
Like Sonia commented above, I’ve had bunion surgery, in fact on both feet. And I walk a LOT. I’m a travel blogger (*blogger hi-five*), so i travel a lot, and I walk the cities I visit trying to see absolutely everything. Between those two factors, “cute” just doesn’t cut it for me with footwear, unless the comfort factor is really high, too. I’ve been stalking the Tieks site on occasion wondering exactly whether the price is worth it, AND if the comfort level will work for me. Sigh, I think in being nudged over the edge. Maybe I’ll set myself a special blogging goal, and treat myself to the Tieks when I reach it! Thanks for such a thorough review!
Sweetphi says
Hi Megan, thank you for your lovely comment. I love the idea of setting a blogging goal, and so glad you enjoyed the review 🙂
Julie says
Thanks for your review! Seriously considering finally buying a pair. As far as the foot odor (happens to the best of us) have you heard of Gekks? I just ordered my first pair; from what I understand, they’re a cross between a shoe insert and a sock, meant to take the place of annoying no-show socks in shoes like ballet flats. And they literally use Tieks in the pictures on their site – pretty good indication they’ll work with these shoes!
Sweetphi says
I haven’t heard of that, but totally am going to try it out, thank you so much for your comment!!!
Lee Ann Carter says
Good Morning!
I very seldom ever response to blog post I’ve read but I just had to reach out and thank you for your review of Tieks. I’ve been considering a pair for some time now and the first of the week somehow discovered your site. Your posting convinced me to take the plunge. I received my navy blue Tieks yesterday evening. Put them on this morning after I got home from the gym and they fit perfectly. No pinching. No gaping. No tightness. No redness. They are amazing!!
Thank you SO much for your post! And now I can’t wait to decided what color to order next.
Sweetphi says
Thank you SO MUCH for your awesome comment!!! I’m so glad my post helped, and that you loved your Tieks. I’m the same way – it’s so hard to decide what color(s) I want next lol!
Mary d says
I have wide feet and cankles. Always looking for a comfortable shoe. Would these be what I’m looking for?
Sweetphi says
Hi Mary, I believe so, they’re super comfortable 🙂
Shirley says
I never leave comments but when you mentioned stinky feet I knew I had to.
I first discovered a great product when I could no longer stand the smell of stinky snow boots and ski boots (my husband works in the ski industry). It’s a powder called “on your toes.” It’s a about $15 and you get less than an ounce but you only use a little bitty cap full and it lasts for like 6 months. I make stinky footed nieces and nephews put it in their shoes.
Sweetphi says
Oh my goodness Shirley, I loved your comment lol, thank you so much for telling me about this powder, totally going to go buy some asap 🙂
Vanessa says
I purchased my first pair just over a week ago and broke them in during a 2 day Disneyland trip. My legs and body were tired (mostly because I am 5 months pregnant and chasing a 22 month old around) but my feet did not hurt at all. I’ve purchased expensive designer flats from Tory Butch, Coach, and Kate Spade only to be extremely disappointed by the lack of comfort, so I was skeptical, but the love affair is real. The cushioning is great…indescribable really. Sweetphi is spot on with her review. I see a pewter pair in my future!
Sweetphi says
Thank you so much for your feedback, I love hearing about how much you love the shoes! I am currently preggo = 39 weeks- and wear my Tieks all the time!
Tiffany says
I have a very narrow heel, in fact most flats and heels slip off it’s so narrow. Most times I have to wear shoes with straps. Do you know if these would slide off narrow heels? Thanks.
Sweetphi says
I think they would work for a narrow heel because they have some elastic around the heel.
Wanda Rowland says
I have a very narrow heel.I own 4 pair of Tieks.I have a disability, and my feet are very sensitive to pain.I can go all day in my Tieks.I asked for the Poppy color for my birthday, and my husband got them for me.They are beautiful. All of my girlfriends gave him their shoe sizes.LOL.
Sweetphi says
So happy to hear how much you love them, I too have 4 pairs and cannot tell you how much I wear them lol
Sonia says
Hello
I have been researching these shoes for a couple of months now. I am someone who has had bunion surgery on one foot and need surgery on the other, which isn’t happening… Lol. Some shoes tend to rub on my scar from surgery and get uncomfortable after 2-3 hours of wearing and the other shoe is just uncomfortable because of my bunion. So finding a comfortable pair of shoes is really hard. I am going on a two week trip this summer to Rome, Paris and Spain and heard that I will be walking a lot of miles a day. I’m convinced by the numerous comments I have read, that I need a pair or two of these the hard decision is narrowing it down to two pairs.
Sweetphi says
That is so tough narrowing it down to what colors you want of these shoes – I have 4 pairs now lol. I would suggest wearing them in a bit, just to be sure they’re perfect for your upcoming trip 🙂
Mitamay says
I have Plantar Fasicitis, and over the years, I’ve discovered that I can’t even wear regular flip flops anymore, and the flats that are literally flat and have no arch support are out of the question–my feet ache after only an hour most times. Would these flats absolutely not hurt my feet at all? I’d hate to pay that much for shoes I can barely wear!
Sweetphi says
Hi Mitamay, I’m sorry to say I don’t know how to answer your question… I don’t have plantar fasicitis, and I’m not a medical professional so sadly I cannot answer your question. These are not orthopedic shoes, these are just comfortable flats, but they don’t have special arch support or anything. I’d only be able to point you in the direction of contacting Tieks customer service with your individual question, because I don’t know how to answer your question better, sorry! Best of luck!
KatieR says
I just bought my second pair of Tieks and am deciding if I like the color. My first pair (like you) was Matte Black. I’ve worn them almost every day for 10 months. They’re not great after a day of walking but I have bad heels and if I’m walking all day that’s always an issue no matter what shoes I’m wearing.
I got the Lilac b/c I thought it’d be nice to have a splash of color since my wardrobe is often black/grey (esp for work). The Burgundy you have probably aren’t quite as bright, but do you generally wear lots of color?
Sweetphi says
I generally do not wear a lot of colors, so I like the pop of color but not over-crazy-brightness of the Burgundy. I’ve also gotten the Emerald ones and they are beautiful.
Katie says
Every time I wear flats my heels tend to slip out with every step and its very annoying. Have you ran into that at all?
Sweetphi says
Oh no, that sounds like they’re not the right size, perhaps too big I’ve never had my feet slip out.
KatieR says
I have that problem, but not with Tieks!
Kathleen says
I absolutely loved wearing my Tieks because they were so comfortable. I bought them last May and wore them all the time. But, the color on the leather worn in a short time. I still wear them for comfort but they do not look so good anymore!
Sweetphi says
One of my brightly colored one just started to fade and wear a little – after 2 years of use though, but I polished with shoe polish and they looked good as new!
Crystal says
So based on your review. I’m wondering since I have typically sweatier feet, would this be an issue with Tieks as well. I have heard mixed answers. Some saw leather is better and some don’t… For example, I have a 1-month-old pair of Dr. Scholls flats that already need to be cleaned because they feel uhm, “sticky” or gummy, sorry TMI. But at the moment this is my biggest problem with shoes because if they can’t be cleaned they aren’t worth any price to me.
Sweetphi says
That’s a great question…I’d say mine didn’t need cleaning or start to get a stinky until about a good 9-months to a year after I’d been wearing them … and by wearing them I mean wearing them A LOT! I found that now that I have multiple pairs, I just alternate days of wearing them, and that totally helps too. My best friend found these little toe socks that she wears with hers and said they help too so that she never has to clean them or anything.
Jill Jak says
Disappointed. Teal foot pad chipped off. Contacted customer service with a photo for help. They offered to help me buy another expensive pair of shoes.
Sweetphi says
Sorry to hear that you didn’t have a good experience with their customer service Jill. I have had different pairs of Tieks (3 pairs total – saving for my 4th) over the years and wear them almost every day and haven’t experienced any chipping at all.
Jill says
Yeah, me too. The service staff was very kind. They simply had limited solutions to offer.
Denise Stephenson says
Do your feet get hot in the Tieks? Typically my feet get hot in the closed type of flats . I also need arch support. Is there any at all? I am on my feet all day long as a kindergarten teacher; I usually wear Alegria shoes but am searching for something less cloppy for wear with leggings (which I do not own yet because I don’t know what kind of shoes to wear) and possibly wear with spring/summer dresses .
Sweetphi says
Hi Denise, my feet do get a little hot in shoes – but that’s all shoes in general, not specific to tieks. I think that’s foot specific, not shoe specific. For example, my little sister has the exact same pair of tieks – color and everything – that I do, and hers haven’t gotten sweaty or anything and we’ve had them the exact same amount of time, and both wear them every day. She is a doctor/resident and on her feet all day, and she loves them. The soles of Tieks are really soft and mold to your feet, but they do not have additional arch support. Hope that helps.
Deidra Shobert (Granny) says
Hello,
I am extremely interested in these shoes. But I have some questions…I have had 43 intubated surgeries! That’s correct not a typing mistake 43 (fourth three). Most of them on my back but I have several rheumatoid arthritis, cronic back pain, migraines, and the list goes on. If I wear flip flops I will not be able to sleep that night due to several pain in calves, and hips. Even my Alegria shoes cause restless nights due to paint. I have to wear tennis shoes as soon as I get up every morning. I can’t wear house shoes.
Sooooo what do you think will I be able to wear them????
If they work I will let the world know how great they are . Can you help me decide I’m only 54 years young and need help. Thank you for your advise. Will wait to hear from you!
Sweetphi says
Hi Deidra, thank you so much for your comment. While these shoes are very comfortable to me, they are not medical shoes, nor tennis shoe like with a cushy/big sole to them. They are very comfortable flats, so unfortunately I could not make the recommendation for you if it’s medical shoes you’re looking for.
chriis says
I don’t like to wear shoes without socks, these seem to be worn over bare feet, can you wear socks?
Sweetphi says
Great question, while I do wear these on bare feet, I have also worn them with the socks that just cover the toes for flats (like these http://amzn.to/2oimu0h)
Bella says
Do they work for high arches?
Sweetphi says
A lot of previous commenters have said they do work for high arches 🙂
Marci says
I just bought my first pair of Tieks, matte black also. 🙂 I usually wear a 5.5M, ordered a 5, and I’m pretty sure that’s the size I need. I don’t think a 6 would stay on my foot, and if it did, thanks to the strong elastic in front, I might have too much space in the toe area and/or heel area. After wearing them indoors a few times per week for the first 2 weeks (so that I could return them if needed), I definitely had pain and a deep red mark on the “big toe, lower knuckle” area from the elastic in front. I find the shoes comfortable except for that area and it has loosened up verrrry gradually with each wear. I also notice that if I try to keep my foot more towards the front of the shoe, the elastic bothers me less. They are not the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever owned (I would like bit more cushion in the footbed), but I like how they look, and this pair of shoes is replacing 3 other non-Tieks black flats that I’ve had to get rid of recently (that’s how I justified the cost, for me). I tend to have to break in shoes before I fall in love with them, so I definitely think these have a lot of potential.
Karen says
Hi. I have a problem with where the shoe comes across the top of my foot, especially flats. I understand there’s no elastic at the heel but how stiff is the front? Does it dig in to the bunion area? Does it press on the top of your big toe?
Sweetphi says
Hi Karen, I’ve found the leather to be very soft and forgiving, but it might take a little bit to wear them in. Other commenters with bunions have said they work great, but I don’t have any personal experience with that type of issue.
Lauren says
Hi! Do these hold up in the rain very well? I’m going to Scotland at the end of april and it’s possible it’ll be pretty rainy : /
Sweetphi says
Hi Lauren, I wore mine in London and it rained/was drizzling all the time. They held up just fine. I will say though, that on the cobblestones they were a little slippery, but I honestly would say that about most shoes, right? lol. Hope that helps 🙂
Penni says
Thank u so much for sharing your love for these Tieks. Neuropathy makes finding shoe comfort next to impossible & i bet my expectant daighter will love these for her pregnancy as well. So appreciated your information & review!!
Sweetphi says
So glad you like the review Penni. I am currently 6 months pregnant and these are the only shoes I’ve been wearing daily to work/out/etc., they’re so comfy, so I bet your daughter would love them.
Sissy Reed says
I love my tieks! Bought first pair a couple of months ago to try out. I have always hating wearing shoes. They hurt my feet, until I found my Tieks. I can wear them all day with no discomfort. I have a high arch, and hammer toes. Tieks just mold around everything and never hurt. I now own three pair and wish I had more.
Sweetphi says
So glad to hear that Sissy, I feel the same way – Tieks have totally made shoe wearing pleasant again 🙂
Barbara says
What about any arch support
Sweetphi says
Other commenters have said that the arch support is just right, but there isn’t any ‘extra’ arch support
Cindy says
I want a pair? Where do you get them and are they pretty true to size? Also do they come in 1/2 size?
Sweetphi says
Hi Cindy, you can order a pair of Tieks on http://www.tieks.com, they are pretty true to size and kind of mold to your feet. They do not come in half sizes, I wear an 81/2 and get them in a 9 and they are perfect, all mine are from the ‘classic collection’ hope that helps, if you have any other questions I’d recommend asking their customer service 🙂
Jessie Spencer says
Going to order me a pair. Going to New York this year and will do a lot of walking plus I’m diabetic do I need really comfortable shoes that have memory foam comfort
Sweetphi says
I think Tieks would be perfect for your upcoming trip 🙂
Clare says
How do the soles hold up after constant wear? I have some MKs and they are kind of a mess! I would hate to spend almost double and have the same problem. Are the soles leather?
Sweetphi says
The soles are this awesome Tieks blue color and I believe they’re some kind of rubber? You could find out more on the Tieks website exactly how they’re made – they have a really cool graphic on how each pair is made. I’d say they hold up really well. I’ve been wearing mine for 2 years at this point and they’re still good to go 🙂
Phyllis says
I have wide feet and all shoes are uncomfortable. I have issues walking very far because of that. Are these made for wide feet??
Sweetphi says
Hi Phyllis, while Tieks do mold to your feet and they do work for my slightly wider feet, I’m not quite sure how wide they are. I would suggest contacting their customer service. Others here in the comments have said that they work for very wide feet, I just don’t have any personal experience to share with you.
Charlotte Elkins says
Severe back problems…..usually the flatter ,the better….what about the ease of return, and discount for someone who would be your best advertiser if they helped me…..could work out GREAT for this 60 year old Nana ….if I find something that works ill fill up Facebook with my praise.
Sweetphi says
Hi Charlotte, I would try contacting Tieks customer service, I do not work for the company so I do not know how to answer your questions, sorry 🙂
Leslie Frazier says
I am so lucky that my Jeff bought me a second pair (he super surprised me for Christmas with a pair of the coral patent ones.) of black smooth leather….I was beyond suprised and enclosed was a beautiful love note thanking me for taking such good care of him…..(he is facing major surgery in a week) I am so in love with shoes, both pairs broke in within a week! I was always in the habit of taking off my shoes as soon as would get home…nowwww I forget I have my Tieks on!!! I can’t thank the Tiek company enough for a wonderfully made shoe with a high level of comfort…with EVERY dime!!!
Janie Gutierrez says
Where can I order a pair?
Sweetphi says
You can order a pair from their website: http://tieks.com/
Traci Clark says
I went to Italy for 2 weeks last summer. I brought a pair of cardinal red tieks in May because of the great reviews. I also brought a new pair of tennis shoes (under armor) for my trip and I didn’t break them in. The tennis shoes caused the worst blisters on the second day. I wore my tieks for the rest of my trip. Awesome! And I don’t wear flats. But they’re the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn, even with all the walking, and believe me, there was a lot! Highly recommend. Looking forward to buying a second pair soon.
Sweetphi says
Hi Traci – thank you so much for your comment, your story sounds exactly like what happened to me! I brought a pair of new boots and Tieks with me to Europe last year, and day one after walking all over, my feet had the worst blisters of my life! From then on I wore my Tieks and they were amazing. Normally I’m not a flats wearing girl – they usually end up hurting or something, but my Tieks never have! The third pair I bought did require a little wearing in, but they’re the most comfortable shoes ever!!!
Jessica says
Great review! I’m so tempted to get some! I’m always looking for comfy and cute! AND I’m going to London and Dublin this summer and I need a good pair of walking cute shoes. How did they hold up in the rain in the UK? (This would totally be my excuse for buying them lol. 🙂
Sweetphi says
I would say these would be a great shoe for your Europe trip, I know they were total life savers on my trip. It did rain in Dublin both days we were there and to be honest, I didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary, so I’d say they held up well 🙂
Diane says
Why are they so expensive?
Sweetphi says
I think it may have something to do with the fact that they’re leather and hand made 🙂
Tash says
Thank u for the review. I must get a pair of these cute shoes for me and my mother. I have feet issues and mainly alegria’s as a review result of that and the knowledge that they are compact is all the better.

thinkdammit says
My husband bought me my first pair of Tieks this past November and even though I initially got blisters from them (yep) they are the most comfortable shoes ever! Yes, I got blisters the first few days of wearing them in because my feet are weird that way. Now, though – they are clouds of soft leather heaven on my feet! Love them!
Sweetphi says
I’m so happy to hear how much you love your Tieks now, they’re so amazing!!
Jill M. says
I am so Happy that you did a review. I have been seeing all the advertisements for these flats. I have Never spent that kind of money on shoes, but I am so wanting to try these Tieks. I really need a pair of flats. I have Lymphedema in my right leg and it’s hard to find shoes that fit ( usually wear slip ons, Birkenstock Crocs.) I am a independent Fashion Consultant for LuLaRoe. I think I might have to invest in a pair to try. I Thank You for sharing your experience.
Sweetphi says
Glad you found my review helpful 🙂
SeahorseOwl says
Thanks for the input! I have been debating about spending the money to try a pair.
Sweetphi says
I think you’d love them 🙂
Belle says
I got a pair for Christmas and I love them! They are super comfortable! I have very high arches and they are not a problem. I typically wear a ballerina flat on a daily basis at works I do a lot of walking and I hate high heels. The thick blue sole is like a shock absorber and makes them very enjoyable. I am thinking of getting another pair.. the price is steep but if they are well made and comfortable I can wear them for a long time. I have been buying 2-3 pairs of $50-60 flats a year because of daily wear and tear. I am hoping the investment pays off!
Sweetphi says
That’s the same way I look at it Belle – i would rather spend more money on one nice pair of flats than a few cheaper ones 🙂 Glad you got a pair and they’re working for you!
Deborah says
I’m in love with my Tieks! I just got my fist pair right before Christmas, I went with the basic black to start being I can wear with everything! I must say they are the most comfortable shoe I’ve ever worn.. I just order my second pair in pewter today.. I feel there’s going to be an addiction here! They are worth every penny! #ILoveMyTieks
Sweetphi says
So happy to hear that Deborah, I absolutely love my Tieks also 🙂
Linda boudreaux says
I have plantar fasciitis, with a high arch, would tieks work for me?
Rhonda Marendish says
What about rain? I live in the great northwest n it rains a lot . How would they hold up.
Sweetphi says
I do have to say they’re not the best in the rain, they get a little slippery on streets.
Chris reyes says
Hi
Boy , they sure look very comfortable it would take me a long time to save for a pair of these Tieks…I keep hoping my daughter will surprise me for my birthday one can only pray….
Sweetphi says
Hopefully you get these as a present 🙂
Lynn says
These look so comfy, what about high arches?. Would I have to wear an arch support? The leather looks so buttery, I think they would be worth it if they supported my arches.
Sweetphi says
There were previous comments that these shoes worked well with high arches 🙂
Mona Estrada says
Hello, my name is Mona Estrada. I truly am considering buying a pair of Tieks, as I do a considerately amount of walking. My question before buying is that I have a wide foot. I wear a size 6w. Is this gonna be a problem for me before ordering? Do Tieks come in wide sizes? Thank you
Sweetphi says
Hi Mona, thank you for the comment. Tieks do not come in wide sizes. They do kind of mold to your feet. I have slightly wider feet and they work great for me, but I’m not sure how they would work with wider feed, I’d ask Tieks customer service 🙂
Sharon Hobbs says
Can I get a website for the slipper?
Sweetphi says
Of course, the flats can be purchased here: http://tieks.com/
Monica Garcia says
I have pretty wide feet and I got mine for Christmas from my dad… I’ve worn them a lot since then! Even went dancing in them for New Years! They’re prefect! Worth the price! I got the black because well, they can go with everything!!
Tammy Beckley says
I wear a 10 wide and ordered size 10, the shoes mold to your feet, once their broke in. I ordered an 11 for my next pair ,and the size 10 feel so much better. I love these shoes and saving up for my next pair.
Erica says
I’ve been wanting to order a pair tieks for a while. I’m unsure what size to order. I wear a 9 1/2 should I go down half a size or up? Do they stretch? I want comfort so I don’t want to be in a tight or sloppy fit. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Sweetphi says
I would go 1/2 a size up. Hope that helps 🙂
Kathleen L says
I wear a 9.5 as well. Ordered a size 10 and they still pinched my toes and created a sore spot on my foot. I would say they aren’t uncomfortable shoes. But I did not find them to be worth all the rave and attention they’ve received. It’s an over rated ballerina slipper. Very over priced for what you get.
Sweetphi says
Sorry you didn’t love them as much as others have, hope you find your perfect shoes 🙂
Mary Ann says
I ordered and purchased a pair of Tieks in mid August. I probably have worn them less than twice a week since mid-September., less than 3 months. I live in the south and wear sandals through September and as most women have many shoes and boots worn with different outfits. I contacted Tieks because there are places where the leather has split/torn away and the blue part of the sole is torn. When I contacted Tieks, I was told they would grant me a one time exchange “we don’t take back shoes that show signs of wear”, “the damage was strange, we don’t know what caused that.” I can’t speak to what “caused it” but, am disappointed that this is the best they stand behind the product quality. For the record, I am a 55 year old 4K teacher. Most of my day is in the classroom and hallways. I’m just giving you a heads up in case you have any problems with their leather quality. This is just something I felt I needed to put out there for the younger women wearing them tail-gating, with young children or on a much more frequent basis. For them, $175 can be an investment purchase. For the most part, I purchase shoes of high quality…Sam Edelman, Frye, Tory Birch, Jack Rogers, Andre Andre Assous, Patricia Green.
Sweetphi says
Thanks for the comment Mary Ann. I’m on my 4th pair of Tieks now, and I have never experienced anything like that, but I am sorry to hear your experience wasn’t great with them. Thank you for suggesting all those other brands too. I don’t work for Tieks, this was just my review of them, but I always appreciate different viewpoints 🙂
Mary Ann says
My replacement pair has shipped. I will follow up in 3 months with another review. I hope you are right and that poor quality of this particular pair was an unfortunate experience.
Kelly says
Thank you both for all of the info. I am beginning to plan for a trip to Europe(that could possibly become my honeymoon) during the summer of 2017 & am in need of a few pairs of simple, interchange flats that will work for everything other than elegant dinners & beach excursions. I think Tieks will be perfect, though I now plan to make my purchase a couple of months in advance to make sure they fit properly, etc…
Sophia says
I’ve been looking into to getting a pair of Tieks for about a year. Next summer I will be taking an 8-day trip to Spain and I think Tieks would be perfect! I have been reading reviews but it is good to see that you also went on a vacation where a lot of walking was required. Now for the hard part: choosing a color:)
Sweetphi says
The hardest part is definitely choosing a color, I’d get these and wear them in so that they’re perfect 🙂
Elena says
hello thank you for the review and comments on the tieks shoes. have not gotten mine yet and it might take a while but its good to read all the reviews n buzz about this shoes. Have been trying to save up to buy me a pair but not there yet : (
Sweetphi says
Thanks for the comment Elena! I know I had to save for a while to get them, but I do think they’re worth the wait 🙂
Carol says
Do these work well for a narrow foot! Do they run wide, narrow, or regular?
Sweetphi says
I’d say they would work for any foot size – wide, narrow or regular. They kind of mold to your feet because of the soft buttery leather. I have friends with all different feet widths and we all love them.
Susan says
I’ve been eyeing a pair of Tieks for a quite now but I’m wondering if the sole is thin enough that you can feel every pebble or rock you step on. I know you wore them on a hike but…Can anyone answer?
Sweetphi says
Hi Susan, great question. I think that the sole is thick enough to where you wouldn’t feel every pebble or rock…that’s one of the many reasons I like these shoes, because they’re much more substantial in the sole department than other flats.
Susie Wells says
I finally got my first pair of Tieks but they wont be my last! I’ve already picked out my next ones! I wear a 7.5 but have wide feet from wearing Rainbows so much. I ordered 7 which is fine but I wonder if an 8 would be too big? Don’t want them slipping off my heel. I too was concerned about my big toe nail wearing through so I simply cut the toes off of a pair of elasticized socks and slip them on my toes before putting my Tieks on – voila! Waited months before ordering but am so glad I did. Would like to have the option of not paying for all the fancy packaging and bags as I leave the house in my Tieks and come back in them and have no need of bags every time I order.
Erica says
I am a size 8 normally, so I ordered size 8 in the black matte. They felt pretty roomy and felt like they were going to slip off my heel, they are sending me a pair of 7’s….I’m wondering how much they will stretch…? Has anyone ordered a size down and had good luck?
Jennifer Speidel says
I have high arches. I have read other reviews that do not recommend if you do. Does anyone know about that?
Patty says
Spent months researching tieks and finally ordered them. I love them however, I had them for 8 weeks (didn’t wear them everyday) and the back of them are scuffed, the toes are scuffed and when I called customer service all I got was” try saddle soap I hear it works well”
Very disappointed.
Sweetphi says
Oh bummer, that sucks that your are scuffing. I haven’t noticed that, and I do wear mine pretty much every day, and have had them for over a year. I’m wondering if perhaps your are a pattern? Mine are from the classic collection.
Debbie Day says
I have loved my black classic Tieks from the moment I slipped them on. No blisters!!! I have severe neuropathy in my feet and I was shocked that I could wear them all and no pain. However, now the back of the heel of the shoes are like folding in half. Sometimes slipping of my heel!! Has anyone had this problem? I was going to order another pair but now I’m afraid.
Sweetphi says
That’s so nice to hear your love your Tieks as much as I do! I haven’t noticed that issue in the heels of my shoes, and I have 4 pairs…I would definitely recommend asking customer service 🙂
Lourdes says
Great review. I am a teacher and I am on my feet all day long chasing primary children. I have tiny, narrow feet, and I worried about them being too big. I am a 5.5 in closed shoes but went up to a 6 in Classic. They are perfect, and I wore them for 8 hours on my first day out of the box. So many teachers stopped to ask about them in the halls! Although I typically go for a bit of arch support, there is something about the bottom of the shoe that makes them very comfortable, even without arch support inside the shoe. Love my Tieks and hoping for a second pair soon.
Sweetphi says
Thank you so much for your awesome comment Lourdes, so happy that you love them as much as I do 🙂
Annie says
I want to get a few pairs but I have really narrow feet. I usually wear a size 7 or 7 1/2 according to how it fits. I also have heel pain. What would you suggest for me.
Sweetphi says
Thanks for the comment Annie. If you have really narrow feet, I would suggest a 7 in the classic collection 🙂 For any other questions I would definitely ask their customer service 😉
Beth S says
Tieks are a bit inconsistent in fit, but customer care will work with you exchanging left and right til you get where you need to be: UNLESS YOU HAVE WORN THEM OUTSIDE. I believe it’s because they are all hand-made, so there will be variances. My first order, I ordered 2 pair in size 9 – one clover and one cobalt. The cobalt fit like a dream from moment one. I wear them almost every day, they are so comfortable (and look fun). I suffer from plantar fasciitis and have heel pain ‘the morning after’ when I wear most any shoe (including sneakers). Except these. My Cobalt Blues are the Best. No pain, and just….just wonderful. The greens? A bit small. Did an exchange, and thought I had the right fit (same size/color, diff shoe, diff feel altogether)…now that I’ve worn them a bit, I find that while they don’t cause immediate discomfort, they do AFTER I have taken them off. Currently I’m working to stretch them a bit, since I can no longer return them.
Undaunted, I’m currently eyeing up the burgundy for fall. I just took delivery of the electric snake & found them too stiff to consider keeping…I like the supple classics, but boy oh boy the electric snake is pretty! So I’m swapping them for the burgundy and am ready to fall in love again.
Bottom line: it might take a bit, but when they fit, they are perfect.
Sweetphi says
Thank you so much Beth. I totally agree, when you have the right pair of Tieks, they’re perfect!
Susan says
Are there any stores that carry these? I would prefer to try them on first before purchasing. Shoes like bras need to be fitted!!
Sweetphi says
Hi Susan, I’m not sure, I don’t think so, I think they’re only sold online…I’d contact them to find out 🙂
Mandy says
I am so glad I found this post! I have been debating on buying a pair for a trip to Disney! I am looking for a cute pair of shoes that of course I can walk in. I’ve been debating on spending that type of money on shoes I can’t try on. The fact you’ve worn them hiking and in Europe makes me think they may be worth it!
Sweetphi says
Aw, thank you so much for your lovely comment! I’ve worn my tieks around Disney, so I know from experience you’ll love them 😉
Darian says
I’m looking to get my first pair soon. My only worry is blisters. Breaking in new shoes is hard with a toddler, especially if your getting blisters and your feet hurt. Did anyone get blisters from tikes?? 🙂
shannon says
Darian I did not get any blisters. I got my first pair last christmas, and now have 3 🙂 , I wore my clover green ones in San Francisco and they never hurt one time! They seriously can be worn right out of the box!
Sweetphi says
Thank you so much for answering the question Shannon – and omg I think the same thing, they’re gtg right out of the box!
Jenni Kay says
Are they successful with wide feet I have a pain disease and it makes my feet swell I’m wondering if this might be something I could wear?? I am only able to wear slippers now because regular shoes cause to much pain?? If not does anyone have any suggestions for something extremely comfortable for wide feet that doesn’t look like a slipper??
Sandy says
Try Go Walks from Sketchers in a WW. Seem to work great for me
Sweetphi says
Thank you for the feedback!
Debbie says
I have go walks. They seem to make me stumble also. Just say be ware. They are, however, very comfortable.
Sweetphi says
Hi Jenni, thank you for the comment. I would check with Tieks customer service, I’m not sure if they would be the right fit for you. While I do have slightly wider feet, I wear normal shoes. The Tieks have a little bit of give and soft leather, but they’re more like a structured flat. Hope that helps or that others have suggestions.
ckay says
I wear an 8W, I order a 9 Tieks and they work great. I love them! I also have a swelling disease and have to be picky. But Tieks and Vionics (they have some really cute shoes) seem to do the best for me. Hope this helps.
Sweetphi says
Thank you so much for your feedback!
Angela says
Jenni Kay, I wear Vionic shoes and absolutely love them. I need something with some support at the arches and they are perfect for me. I also have a wide foot and they do have shoes that come in a wide.
Rebecca says
I just want to comment to show a different experience. I ordered these very excited to wear a ballet flat! I ordered up a size because of my wide feet and bunions. I’ve stretched them wearing socks. They are ok. Not really worth the price. They squish my toes and cut across the widest part of my foot. I wish they were great for me! I also wish I had normal feet. ?
Sweetphi says
Oh no, I’m so sorry to hear they didn’t work for you. Thank you for leaving feedback though. I did get several commenters saying they worked great over bunions, they too ordered the classic collection (the same ones I have which are the leather ones that stretch a little more than the other prints I think) but I can’t talk from experience.
Janet says
I ordered them and was very disappointed! They are stiff and very uncomfortable . If you need a wider width because of bunions DO NOT order these!!!
Sweetphi says
Hi Janet, oh no, so sorry to hear they didn’t work for you – can I ask, did you get ones from the classic collection? Those are the ones I have, and they have super soft leather that stretches. I personally don’t have bunions, but several commenters with them have commented and said they love them, so I’m sorry to hear they didn’t work for you. Also, several commenters have said that shoes in different collections aren’t as “giving” or soft, so maybe that could be it.
Sandy Pate says
Do they fit true to size? I worry a bit about what size I should order. I want a pair super bad! Thank you for such a good job on your review?
Sweetphi says
I have heard that some collections run smaller than others. All my pairs are from the classic collection and I usually wear a size 8.5-9 and I order a 9 and they fit perfectly 🙂 Hope that helps!
Susan W. says
I”m intrigued but the shoes look like they don’t have much arch support and I like arch support.
You’ve worn them, what do you think? Is there more arch support than it looks like in the pics?
Susan
Sweetphi says
Hi Susan, thank you for the question. There’s not additional arch support from what you see in the pictures, but they are MUCH more comfortable and provide more support than any other flats I’ve worn. Hope that helps.
Shaela says
THANK YOU!! I’ve been looking for a review from someone who has owned a pair of Tieks for over a year and wears them almost everyday… because that’s what I would do, haha. Has the leather held up well? I’m so afraid of it getting worn out or rubbed through (on the very tip, since I constantly stub my toes, or on the top, from my big toe). But your pictures look great – worn, yes, but not worn out! This may have just been the final push I needed – I really want a cardinal red pair! Thanks again-
Sweetphi says
I’m so glad you liked my review, thank you! These shoes definitely held up – the leather in the back at the seams did get a little worn out, but nothing that one wouldn’t expect from extreme usage. A little shoe polish did the trick and they still wear great 🙂
Kathy says
Loved your review! I just got my 14th pair… don’t judge! I have to go down a 1/2 size because they only make whole sizes, but I found that wearing a pair of thin socks at first helps stretch them a little. Last week I walked all over Chicago in my Tieks and felt great – and they are perfect for making your way through a busy airport. My favorites are my Lavender Snakes – my splurge – It’s amazing how they really go with everything!
Sweetphi says
Haha, oh my goodness, 14th pair? I’m not judging, I’m jealous!! That’s amazing! Tieks are totally my fave for airports, they’re comfy and come on and off through security easily, and they’re just so cute. Now I’m off to go check out the Lavender Snakes and drool lol.
Becky says
Love tieks, I have like 6 pairs! The only ones that have hurt my feet are the patent leather ones and going up a size helped. They are definitely my go to though, I wear them almost every day.
Sweetphi says
6 pairs? omg I’m so jealous – definitely wanting more Tieks right this very second lol. Thank you for sharing the tip about going up a size in the patent leather ones, that’s very helpful!
J Hollinger says
I barely broke my red patent Tieks in before I hit perimenopause and my feet started shape shifting. Since then, they have been sitting in the box, going on almost 2 years. I bought a size 9 because I wanted some room for thin socks at times and I didn’t want toe prints, like most people have when I see them wearing Tieks. Perhaps they should consider making the toe space higher so your toe I print doesn’t show through the leather.
Does anyone know if Tieks will exchange shoes if for some reason they become uncomfortable?? Some companies do that.
Anyone have any suggestions about what I can do??
Kerry T says
Clean them up and sell them on eBay. They still have a pretty good resell value even used.
polly rowe says
Red, my favorite color. How much. parowe62@gmail.com if you haven’t sold them yet
Sweetphi says
Hi, these are not for sale, to buy these shoes you can visit Tieks.com
Donna Bradley says
Are they true to size? Do they come in half sizes?
Sweetphi says
They do not come in half sizes, the feedback has been to order up, so for example I’m an 8.5 and I buy a 9 🙂
Deb says
I have read that if you wear some thick socks and heat them with a hair dryer while wearing them, they will stretch and mold to your foot. You could also call Tieks and ask for advice.
Leigh Esparza says
Do they have good arch support?
Sweetphi says
They don’t have additional arch support from what you see (the comfortable leather soles) but it’s definitely enough support for me, arch support has never been lacking in these shoes 🙂
Sally Moore says
My feet are allergic. Can’t send them back once you’ve worn them. Didn’t know I was allergic til I wore them for one day. So disappointed 🙁
Sweetphi says
Sorry to hear that Sally. I don’t work for Tieks, so I don’t know what to say except that I’m sorry the shoes didn’t work for you.

Love your post! And I just got my first pair of Black Matte tieks. I am a teacher and did a ton of research on shoes to wear and these kept popping up! I’ve never spent this much on ANY item of clothing, but super happy I got these! Saving for another pair! Next on my list: ballerina pink or feather gray or mustard yellow! I can’t decide!
Sweetphi says
Oh my goodness, thank you so much for this lovely comment, aren’t Tieks amazing? I’m totally obsessed. And your color choices for your next pair…so hard to decide! I do know someone with the mustard yellow ones and she loves them 😉
Terri says
Would they work on a wide foot?
Sweetphi says
Yes, I have slightly wider feet and they work great, and others have commented that the leather is stretchy 🙂
Carol says
I too have been thinking about getting a pair of these. My question is, was there any problem with your big toe showing on the top of the shoe? Not sure if this makes sense??? But thanks….
Sweetphi says
Hi Carol, I think I understand your question – the leather is soft, so if you have a big toe that sticks up a lot, it will show a little bump, but nothing noticeable or weird lol. You can see on the close up pictures that you can’t really tell. Totally worth getting a pair!
Michelle R says
So what color did you get the third pair in? I have been hemming and hawing over what color to get. Burgundy is on the top of the list!
Sweetphi says
Hi Michelle, for my third pair I actually ended up getting another pair of matte black, I wanted to have two of the matte black because I wear them SO MUCH! lol. And the Burgundy is ammmmazing, it’s a really pretty color.
Lin says
I love, love, love my Tieks. I have 3 pairs. Black, leopard, and poppy. I don’t really need any other shoes now that I found these AMAZING shoes. I’m going to be sad when winter arrives & I can’t wear my Tieks everywhere that I go. And as far as the question “are the worth it?” goes… YES! There can’t be a price tag on comfort.
Sweetphi says
Love your comment, you totally cannot put a price tag on comfort, thank you for sharing 🙂 !!
Cyndie says
What is the price??
Sweetphi says
It depends on the collection – prices are available via their website (Tieks.com)
Angela heaton says
The best shoes ever! We wear them at work in a medical spa, everyone gets a pair as a gift after their first year of employment. Someone in my office wore them to hike in also and she raved about how comfy they were on the hike. Lol
Sweetphi says
That’s so cool that you got them after your first year of employment – and I love that your coworker wore them hiking with no issues too!
Linda says
How are they for somebody with back problems ?
Jennifer says
I have a bad back as well as foot problems and my feet feel the best in my Tieks 🙂
Sweetphi says
Thank you for the feedback
Jen says
I initially purchased mine because my back was killing me during my last pregnancy from wearing flip flops and flats, especially lower by my sciatic nerve-but still wanted to have a stylish go-to shoe and I thought that the extra support on the bottom would help. They were a life saver for me, and they were versatile enough that I could dress them up or down. I have since ordered another pair and intend to order a red pair in the near future. I have recommended them to a few of my friends who are teachers and are on their feet all day long as well.
Sweetphi says
They’re total life savers, thank you so much for commenting Jen!
Sweetphi says
There have been several people who have commented that they work great for somebody with back problems.
Denise says
I want to believe you Sweet Phi, I really do; but no blisters at all???? I am on my feet for HOURS when we have a shoot and/or client event and have tried all the latest shoes that are supposed to be rocking and I still get blisters. Toms and everything ….. I was on a project recently, and by the end of the day I wanted to die!!! If there are the wonder shoe then maybe I should give them a try!
Sweetphi says
I just got my third pair Denise, no joke! Tieks are the only shoes I’ve EVER worn that have not given me blisters (funny you mentioned Toms because those were some of the most painful lol) but I honestly have nothing but amazing things to say about these shoes. I wore them hiking (a 5 mile hike up hills and dirt trails) and when we went to Europe, they saved our trip. I had brought these cute boots that I planned all my outfits around, and then day one the boots gave me something like 4 plus blisters, but I wore the Tieks the rest of the trip and was a-ok. I now have a closet full of shoes I never wear because I’ll look at them and then see the Tieks and just reach for them lol.
Brittany says
I would love to read your thoughts on the Margeux flats – similar price tag, but they can be made to measure!
Sweetphi says
I just looked those up, and I’d have to say I still would prefer the Tieks, it looks like the Margeux ones don’t have as much ‘give’ and flex like the Tieks do because of the soft leather. Hope that helps.
Melissa says
Hi there! I too experienced the odor issue after about a year of wear and also the footbed is very darkened now. I haven’t been able to completely eradicate the problem, but I do lightly wash every now and then, spray with deodorizer after each use and store them with a fabric softener sheet in each one. This seems to help a little. I’m open to other tips!
Sweetphi says
Love the fabric softener tip, going to have to try that! Sorry I don’t have any additional tips, but the deodorizer I mentioned in the post has really done wonders 🙂
Harriet says
I love mine but my big toe starts to throb after about 2 hours. If the area in the shoe were made just slightly larger or wider it would be PERFECT. As to the PF – they are very flat so I just put gel insoles in them and they work great. BUT please make the toe area wider to accompany those of us that need the gel insoles.
Thank you.
Sweetphi says
Hi Harriet, thank you for the comment, I don’t work for Tieks so you’d have to contact them with your suggestion, thanks
Chris says
How do these shoes compare to the Tory Burch travel Minnies?
Sweetphi says
Great question – I don’t own Tory Burch shoes so I couldn’t tell you. I can tell you they’re much softer and more comfortable than the Tory Burch ones I’ve tried on at the store.
Jen says
I have both and I prefer the support of the Tieks, they also feel like they are made of better quality materials in my opinion.
Sweetphi says
Thanks for the feedback!
Kim says
I see everyone saying they wear their shoes everyday and have had them for years. How do they hold up after everyday use for years? How do the soles look? What about wearing them out in the elements? I’m in outside sales and I’m in and out of my car all day long regardless if it is raining not not. I’m worried if these get wet, they will be destroyed.
Sweetphi says
Hi Kim, great question. In the post I mention that because I wear them SO MUCH (literally, I wear them like every day – wearing them right now) for me (and not everyone has had this problem) they did start to smell a little, in the post I mention how to clean them, and they’re fine after. I haven’t noticed any major sole wearing, just typical around the edges a little, and the leather right at the seam in the back for me has faded a little – last weekend I put a little shoe polish on it and they were fine. Personally I’m of the opinion that if I’m wearing them all day every day and spend $200, even if I need to buy a new pair every year, it’s better than buying 4+ pairs of shoes for work and then another 3 for going out or whatever where none of them are perfect and I don’t like at $50 each, if that makes sense. Overall they’re more than worth it (for me).
Melissa says
Hi Kim! I am in medical sales and also do a lot of walking each day no matter the weather. I’ve had mine for two years and so far there is minimal wear on the soles. Some rubbing of the leather on the back of the heel can be noted and a tiny bit at the toe edge, but I believe that may be due to my own clumsiness haha.
Sweetphi says
Thank you so much for your feedback and answering questions Melissa!
Mona Dickens says
I have a pair I think they run smaller than other shoes, they smushed my toes, I can’t wear then all day in fact more than an hour my feet are hurting.
Sweetphi says
That’s so odd, I haven’t experienced that with these shoes. Have you tried a size bigger? I’d maybe contact their customer service. I’m on my third pair and they’re the most comfy shoes I’ve ever owned – I want everyone to experience the amazingness, so I’m sorry to hear they didn’t work for you.
Sara says
I agree too, Tieks are great. I was skeptical at first, but now I own 2 pairs! One downside, however, is that the sizes are not consistent between colors. The patterned Tieks seem to run smaller and I have to go up a size so my toes don’t get squished. Other than that, they are great shoes to dress up or down, and I would wear them every day if I could!
Sweetphi says
Thank you so much for the helpful comment. I didn’t know that about the sizes. I’ve only stayed in the classics collection in terms of colors, so I’ve never tried the patterned ones, I’ll be sure to go up a size when I do order them (which I suspect will be soon!)
Anne says
I get Planter’s Fasciitis, so I usually avoid flats. However, I’m wondering if the blue areas on the bottom of the shoes are additional cushion? Have you read anything about it? Thank you.
Sara says
The blue soles do add a bit of extra cushion, but it’s not like you’re walking on clouds or anything. Tieks feel more substantial than other flats I’ve worn, which make them great for all-day wear. If you have Plantar Fasciitis, I’m not sure if Tieks would provide the right support, as there is zero arch support. They do have a great return policy though if you want to try them out in your home first. And just a disclaimer, I am an independent shopper and am not affiliated with Tieks in any way.
Sweetphi says
Hi Anne, sorry, I haven’t read anything like that – I’d try contacting customer service, they might be able to help you out. Best of luck, Phi
Judy says
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these.. They are the most awesome flats I ever owned and the most comfortable, I wish they would make embellishments like the beautiful flower that came with it or buttons and colorful beads that could be clipped on. That would really take it up a notch.
angie says
you can find those on amazon 🙂 just google ‘shoe clip on’ and go from there.
Sweetphi says
Thank you for the suggestion and tip 🙂
Sweetphi says
Aren’t Tieks THE BEST? I know I feel that way, so I’m so happy to hear you love them too! I’d try Amazon or Etsy for some embellishments
Sonja Wagner says
Where can I find these shoes other than online??
Sweetphi says
I only know of them selling them via Tieks.com – you could always contact their customer service and ask.
Sofie says
Hello, I have bunions on the inside of my foot. The leather needs to be flexible and soft but still provide support. How would you rank the Tieks from that perspective?
Sweetphi says
Hi Sofie,
I personally don’t have bunions, but I believe others have commented that the leather is flexible and that they just take a little time to wear in, but that they’re great for feet with them. You can page through the comments 🙂
Thanks
Phi
Patti-Ann Tanis says
I am very happy I came across your post today. I have been hesitant to try ties because I have wide feet. I wear an 8.5 and will order a 9. Now I just have to pick a color. I am going to see if they have red ??Thanks.
Sweetphi says
YAY, so glad my review helped (and I’m right there with you – I have slightly wider feet and these work great) – hope you love your tieks 🙂
Kim says
I have been on the fence about spending so much money on a pair of flats. My feet tend to hurt a lot and I can ever find shoes that don’t hurt. I go on cruises all the time an need a great pair of shoes that I could ware sight seeing and as a dressy shoe for dinner. I can not ware heels and these look like the perfect shoe.
Sweetphi says
I think these would be the perfect shoe for cruises – the shoes are definitely comfortable enough to walk in and cute enough for evenings 🙂
Marie says
I usually cannot wear flats or anything tight that goes across my foot as I have a bunion, ( example, Sperry boat shoes kill my feet). How do you think these woul do?
Sweetphi says
Hi Marie, sorry I’m not really able to answer that question – I think someone else with a bunion wrote a comment that they worked, but I cannot personally tell you anything. I would try contacting customer service. Best of luck 🙂
Elyse says
I purchased my first pair a couple of months ago in matte black. My shoe size is 9.5 but I ordered a 10 because my feet have gotten wider with age and I have a bunion on my right foot. The 10 turned out to be the right size. The shoes are VERY cute and comfortable, but I did have to break them in a bit because of the bunion. To do this, I followed advice I saw on another blog and wore them around the house with thick socks. Now they’re perfect! I’m looking forward to adding more Tieks to my wardrobe. And yes, they are worth the price.
Sweetphi says
Thank you for sharing your feedback and helpful comment, I know someone else with a bunion was asking about Tieks, so I’m going to refer them to this comment 🙂 So glad you think you’re worth the price, I definitely think so too!
Liz says
I have severe edema. Would these shoes fit someone with really swollen feet and ankles?
Sweetphi says
Hi Liz, I think that would be a question for the company. While I do have feet that might be on the slightly wider side, they fit me pretty snugly, so I don’t know how much they’d stretch. Definitely give them a call to see if they’ve had any feedback. Best of luck, and thank you for stopping by my blog and commenting.
Martha Vaughn says
I am a retired teacher of 36 years. I wish I had them when I taught. I know they will be very popular for school teachers. Anyone who teachers any length of time ends up with a foot problem. I think I will buy a pair and go up to school when they are getting their rooms ready. Thanks, Martha
Morgan says
My Aunt just bought these and says they are pretty comfy, but she says that with every pair of shoes so I take that phrase with a grain of salt. I am looking into buying my first pair for my trip to Germany in September! I need to do a little more saving. Thank you Nordstrom Sale for stealing my paycheck somehow.
I am SO glad you mentioned your Paris trip, because I need cute stylish, comfy flats to go with every outfit!! Shoes are so bulky and take up to much souvenir/shopping space. If you wouldn’t have talked about your trip to Paris, I probably would have passed on the shoes!
Sweetphi says
I’m so glad you saw this review and especially the part about me traveling with them. I cannot tell you how much of lifesavers these were when I was in Europe. I literally walked around every day (10+ miles) and I didn’t have any issues at all. And then they fold up super small, they’re just amazing! I would suggest wearing them in a little bit before you go though, probably like 2-4 weeks before you go. The reason I say that is because they like miraculously mold to your feet, so you want them to be ‘just so’ for your trip 😉
Glad my review was helpful, and I hope you enjoy your Tieks when you get them!
Phi
jeanne says
Any advice for someone with a small narrow foot? size 5.5 or 6?
Sweetphi says
I’d go with a 6 😉
ERIN says
When you wear your Tiecks without little booties, or nylons, over time, do your shoes start to stink? I had a pair of ballet flats I had purchased, and I wore them everywhere! Over time, I had to get rid of them, because they smelled so badly from wearing without anything. This is the major reason I have not taken the plunge and purchased a pair. I just don’t want to be throwing them out after a few months wear because they stink!
Sweetphi says
Hi Erin, it all depends on your feet. Mine tend to get sweaty, and so yes, after a little bit of time the shoes do stink – in the post I address this and talk about what I use to solve the problem 🙂
Jo Whittemore says
My big issue with a lot of flats is them pressing into the tops of my feet where the toe coverage begins (if that makes sense) and pressing into the back of my heel. Have you had either experience?
Sweetphi says
The leather is very soft on Tieks, so I haven’t experienced any of the pushing down or anything like that 🙂
Brenn says
I’m a self declared “shoe girl” but I’m in hair school and need black flats I can wear all day every day. I keep seeing tieks all over my pintrest ‘s family trying to decide if they are worth the splurge. This might be a weird question, but do you wear socks with them? I generally wear the little nylon footie socks with flats, but wasn’t sure if they would help or hurt here?
Sweetphi says
I totally think they’re worth the splurge – I just saved up and got my third pair, once you try them, I think you’ll see what the rage is all about 🙂 OK, so the socks thing is a great question…I don’t really wear them, but you could if your feet sweat a lot or something like that…I wear them with tights in the winter, but other than that I just wear them on my bare feet (I used to wear footies because the shoe soles wouldn’t be comfortable or they’d pinch so i’d need like an extra little layer, but with Tieks I haven’t needed to wear them.) Hope that helps
Ellen says
Do the tights stretch them out?
Sweetphi says
Mine haven’t – the Tieks are elastic, so they shape to your foot. Also, tights aren’t that thick, if it were thick socks or something like that maybe they would stretch a little, but I have never noticed any stretching after wearing them with tights 🙂
Jennifer C. Fortune says
They look very comfortable… Might give them a try….?
Sweetphi says
I think you’d enjoy them 🙂
Vanessa Suarez says
I have been wanting a pair of great flats forever. I have tried many that just leave my wide (ish) feet in pain. I bought a pair of Easyspirit flats and they took months to break in. I even bought a wide width because the reviews said the toe box was narrow. Now that they are bearable to wear to work all day, they look completely beat up. Barely a year after getting them and I didn’t even wear them more than 2 times per week! I think I am giving in and getting Teiks (Where is the throw your hands up emoji?). I will likely be practical and get matte black or feather grey and then go from there. Thanks for the review!
Sweetphi says
Haha I’m right there with you – where is the hands up emoji?! lol. Thank you for the comment, and I do think you’ll love the Tieks – I just bought my third pair because they’re the only shoe that is consistently been the best for me.
Sheila says
I have a wide foot. First I ordered a size 8, but it was just too tight. Easy return to Tieks – they sent the size 9 pair before they received the first pair back and didn’t charge me for 2! Very trusting and kind of them! They are quite comfortable, but I don’t find that I can wear them as long as some comments I’ve seen – like walking all over Paris, for instance. There is decent padding in the soles, but not for cobble stones or brick sidewalks. There isn’t much support, so if you need arch support, these are probably not for you. They look nice with any kind of outfit, so they are good for travel, and of course, they take up almost no room in your suitcase.
Sweetphi says
Thank you so much for sharing your experience and commenting Sheila! So glad the return process was easy for you and that you got the right size. For me, they have been total lifesavers on travel because I had bought these one boots that I thought I was going to be wearing everywhere. Upon landing and day 1 walking around and getting 4 blisters from the boots. I knew that wasn’t going to work lol. When I put on my Tieks, it was like wearing little clouds and felt like heaven on my feet, so I am clearly biased lol 🙂 But it truly makes me so happy to hear you love your Tieks too 🙂
Shelley says
Any experience with Tieks from ladies with a wide foot? I was wondering if the elastic would make them a bit forgiving and/or let one go up a size w/o them falling off etc.
Sweetphi says
Hi Shelley, I would say my feet are on the wider side, an the elastic totally makes them a-ok and fits them to my feet (without pinching) 🙂
Laura says
I’m getting ready to purchase my first pair of Tieks, but I’m hoping for a neutral pair like Lynn’s. What color did you buy her? I also love your burgundy. I’m an 8.5, and haven’t decided to go up or down in size. In terms of stinky shoes, try Summer Soles. You just insert a new pair when the old pair becomes less than fresh. Love them!
Sweetphi says
The Tieks Lynn has on in the picture are Taupe (thank you for reading the post btw, I’m totally going to include that in there). And also if you’re an 8.5 (that’s what I am) I would suggest getting a 9, they’re not too roomy or anything, they like mold perfectly to my feet 🙂
I’d love to know how you like them after you get them!
Sue says
I love my Treks. I am an 8.5 normal width. The website suggests going to an 8. However, when mine arrived they were to tight. I was leaving for Rome in 6 days. When I called customer service they overnight me a size 9 and extended my return window for 3 extra weeks. I wore my treks all over Italy. Best customer service I have ever seen, and I have been in Retail for 20 years. Keep in mind returns can not have been wore for full refund.
Sweetphi says
That’s so awesome they were able to help you out and offer such great customer service 🙂 I too wear an 8.5 normally but in Tieks get the 9s 🙂
Laura says
What color are Lynn’s Tieks in the photo? I’m going to splurge on my first pair, but I want a good neutral, and hers look like they fit the bill. I also like your burgundy pair! I have the same foot issue. Try Summer Soles. They are fantastic, and you just insert a new pair when the old pair gets less than fresh.
Sweetphi says
Hi Laura, thank you so much for your question! Lynns are Taupe. Also thank you for your advice!!
Laura says
I pulled the plug and bought the “feather grey” color. When they arrived, I put them on and they were like butter on my feet. I haven’t worn them yet but I plan on doing so very soon. Thanks also for being honest about your feet. I myself have the same problem with smelly feet so I’ll be curious to see how they turn out after a few months, then a year, etc… Again, thanks for your story!
Sweetphi says
Thank you SO MUCH for commenting and letting me know you liked my story (it’s so weird to share that, buy hey, thought it might be helpful 😉 ) Hope you are enjoying your new Tieks.
Carolyn Cook says
I just got my first pair. They fit, but could be a bit roomier in the toe area. Wiggling my toes is pretty tight. Will they tend to stretch out, or should I try a size larger? I have had them on only twice, while sitting in my recliner. Just had surgery, and thought having them on without actually walking around might give me an idea of how they will feel. Will I keep or return them? Not really sure! They seem to be a very well made article. Glad I’m at least trying them.
Sweetphi says
Hi Carolyn, thank you for the comment! I have found that mine kind of stretch and mold to fit my feet, that being said, if there’s only a little big of wiggle room and you want a little more, I would do what makes your feet the comfiest 😉 Thank you for sharing your first-time Tieks experience 🙂
Kendra says
I bought my first pair a few months ago and LOVE them! I have finicky feet and have never been able to find or wear a pair of flats. I have to wear arch supports and I actually CAN wear them in my Tieks! Because of their design, I never worry they are going to come off my heel. Want to buy another pair, but the decision of which pair is too hard!
Sweetphi says
Thank you SO MUCH for your incredibly helpful comment Kendra! Tieks are the best, aren’t they? There’s just no other way to put it lol. I just bought my third pair, worth every single penny because I wear them so much!
Dana C says
This comment is for “Nette”, with the flat feet and on your feet all day ? ( Me too ! ) I’ve never tried Tieks, would love to, but I’m pretty sure my fallen arches wouldn’t be happy at all. I personally love Vionics shoes, and Penney and Macy’s sell a brand called Born that are super comfortable! By the way Sweetphi, you look really cute in your Tieks, love the Paris picture ! P.S. Tell the shoe fairy I wear a size 9 please ?
Sweetphi says
Thanks for answering for another commenter with a question 🙂 And thank you so much for the compliment about my Paris pictures, I can tell you that Tieks totally saved my feet when I was traveling!!
Laura Hernandez says
If I were lucky enough to be able to get a pair of Tieks, I would wear them, and only them, all the time. I have such a hard time finding a shoe that is comfortable and doesn’t hurt my feet. It’s almost too good to be true that there is a shoe out there that is that wonderful. Shoe Fairy, if you are listening, I wear a size 6 1/2 Black, please make me believe!
Sweetphi says
I totally hear you Laura, I had the hardest time finding a shoe that was comfortable and didn’t hurt my feet – for all day use, and Tieks have been that shoe for me. Hopefully the shoe fairy is listening (and the black ones are my fave – currently wearing them right now).
Maia Mittelstaedt says
I bought a pair of beige Tieks in size 9. I wear size 9 normally and my Tieks feel snug but they don’t hurt. In fact, I have arthritis on the tops of my feet so Tieks are such a relief to wear. I am “fluffy” at 260 pounds and 70 years old with flat feet. I haven’t walked great dustances in my Tieks but I wear them for hours sometimes and have no pain at all.
Sweetphi says
Thank you so much for your super helpful comment! Aren’t Tieks amazing? I’m so happy to hear that they’ve been such a relief to wear 🙂
Sarah Lee says
Hey! Thanks for the Tieks review! I’ve been looking at them for a while, but am still afraid to invest. I have wide flat feet, as in, the flatest the ortho doc had ever seen. Any feedback on the subject would be helpful. That’s a lot of money for a pair of shoes if they don’t work. And believe me, I have a closet full of shoes that don’t work..
Sweetphi says
I can tell you that I’m right there with you in the trepidation. I waited probably a good 8 months from when I wanted to purchase them, to when I actually DID. It was worth it. Yes, it’s a lot of money, but honestly since I’ve had them, they’re pretty much the only shoes I’ve worn, so the way I look at it is I could have 4 pairs of “meh” shoes that I don’t love, or 1 pair of amazingness that I wear (literally) every day!!! I just saved up and bought my 3rd pair yesterday. Hope that helps!
Cece says
I have really flat feet so don’t know if these shoes would work. I have looked at them a lot and would love a pair. Would some small orthothotics work in them?
Sweetphi says
While I don’t have any personal experience with insoles, I do have a friend who got these and she put her inserts into them and they worked perfectly 🙂 Hopefully they work out for you 🙂
Amy W says
I purchases a pair of Tieks recently in a 7, which is the size I normally wear in flats. I love how they feel on my feet; however, my heal squeaks inside them with each step I take and it’s extremely noticeable to people around me! I’m not sure if this is because I have high arches or if I have the wrong size? Anyone else experience this?? I so desperately want them to be perfect like everyone talks about!!
Sweetphi says
Oh that’s odd, I’ve never heard of them squeaking! I would totally love to hear from others too because I’ve never heard of that. Have you tried asking their customer service? That’s the only advice I would give- sorry I can’t be of more help.
Tina L says
I purchased a pair of matte black and have worn them twice. After all day of wearing them, at the end of the day, I need to remove them ‘cuz the back of my heels hurt and my big toes feel squished! I usually wear size 6.5 and order a size 7 . They feel good for the first half of the day but the last half is unbearable! Ideas???
Sweetphi says
Oh that’s so odd, I haven’t heard that before, sorry to hear that – other than calling their customer service I wouldn’t know what to recommend as mine are super comfy all day (and I’m on pair number 3 and pretty much wear them every day so I’m sorry I can’t be of more help)
Lockye says
I have narrow feet, 2A or 3A. Do you think the shoes would be narrow enough for me? Thank you.
Sweetphi says
I do think these would work for both narrow and wider feet – they like fit to your feet if that makes sense. As you can see form the post, I shared a picture of me and one of my friends wearing the same shoes – she has very narrow/skinny feet and mine are a little wider, they work perfectly for both of us 🙂 Hope that helps!
Kathy says
Hi. I can only wear flat shoes but because I have neuropathy in my feet. I need shoes that have some cushion inside. Does this shoe offer that?
Sweetphi says
Hi Kathy, I believe this shoe would work for you – I would double check with customer service before purchasing though 🙂
Claudine says
Hi!
I bought my first pair as a birthday gift to myself and they arrived yesterday. I’m a pretty solid size 8, although my foot is somewhat flat (thanks to years of Keds) and wide, but nothing major. I bought the vegan Greystone in an 8 and they are sooooo tight, my toes are squished and they rub the back of my heel.
I emailed Tieks to ask about getting a 9, but now I’m wondering if it’s the vegan material that’s the problem. I’ve read a few other blog posts that say the leather ones stretch more easily. In any case, I’m waiting to hear back and have not worn them outside, as their return policy is void if you do.
Do you have a pair in their vegan style? Did you have any problems initially? I want to love these and buy more pairs, especially for traveling! I hope the size 9’s do the trick!
Thank you!
Claudine
Sweetphi says
Hi Claudine,
Thank you so much for your feedback. You know, I have not heard that they run small or had any issues (initially or now after years of use)…all of mine (I have 3 pairs) are from the classic leather collection, so I don’t have any experience with the vegan collection I hope it all gets worked out for you because I want everyone to experience the awesomeness that are Tieks 🙂 !!
Emma Santiago-Garcia says
Thank you for your helpful post. I am nervous about getting a pair because I have chunky feet, sometimes I have to get a 1/2 size more or a W. I was also told they run a little small, was that your experience?
Sweetphi says
Hi Emma,
I typically wear between an 8 1/2 and a 9, and I got a 9. I have chubby little feet (I think) and I have had absolutely zero problems with the leather ones. I have heard the vegan or cloth ones are a little more snug, so I might suggest trying one of the leather ones for your first pair. Literally I am on my 3rd pair and am completely in love with these shoes!!!! Hope that helped 🙂

Nette says
Hi I have been interested in these shoes for awhile. I am an elementary school teacher & on my feet a lot! Everything I read talks about people who have high arches. I have very flat feet & hate shoes cuz my feet always hurt! Is there anyone who has tried them that has flat feet? Because I don’t want to spend the money if they don’t work for me. Thanks !

That’s a great question – I did see in some of the comments that people with flat feet had tried them and were surprised at how well they worked – I don’t know how else to describe it but the Tieks just fit your feet and are so comfy!!
Trish says
Mine were very tight at first but just in a few wearings they were great. I love them. I also have high arches and I have no problems at all I own four pairs.
Sweetphi says
Thank you so much for sharing Trish!! They’re quite amazing aren’t they?
pak05 says
I tried an 8 but my toes are squished. I tried a 9 and it’s pretty loose. You talking about how comfortable they are out of the box makes me sad. Do you think the 8s will stretch enough to be comfy? Will I be disappointed if I go too loose?
Help! I need advise from the expert!!!
Sweetphi says
OH NO!!!! That totally totally sucks that you are in between sizes like that! I wear an 8 1/2 -9, and the 9 fits me just perfect. The shoes do mold to your feet so I would assume that the 8 would stretch, but if you think there’s not enough room for them to stretch I would send them back, it just depends how tight they are. My 9s do have a little looseness to them, but nothing major, and I like that a lot, I hate when shoes ‘dig in’ and my Tieks definitely don’t. So really it’s just about personal preference, hope that helps.
Kallie says
I had that problem, too. I’m a 7.5 and bought a 7. Total squish. I returned them for an 8 and while they are a little loose they stay firmly on my foot. The elastic and the fact that they are not completely flat (they keep that curve) helps with this. I’ve since gotten 2 more pair. My newest ones, navy, are a little snug compaired to the other 2. I’m regretting not sending them back and trying a different pair in the same size but they are still amazing. I have trouble with foot cramps and can never ever where other flats. I wear my Tieks daily and have not had a single cramp at night. In my book that makes them priceless.
Sweetphi says
Thank you so much for sharing your experience – I LOVE that you haven’t had any cramps since wearing them, they’re totally the best!!!!
Adriana Steele says
I’d wear mine to work ?
Sweetphi says
I wear mine to work every day – even wearing them now 🙂
Adriana says
I cannot seem to get an answer on this, and I’m hoping you can help. I have High arches, and flats have always been the death of me, even though they are bar none the most practical as I am 6’1″. I also, am a car salesman in FL. HOT Asphalt 80 hours a week, and shoes do not agree. I had found, last summer, Gorgeous Nine West Flats– pointed toe, leather, and to my delight a thick sawtooth rubber sole. The blisters were hell. But after four wears (of each pair) the blisters eased up and I never wore any other shoes to work. Heck, I even wore them to other places. Flash forward three months- FL summers don’t just mean Heat, they mean MONSOONS. My poor black flats literally cracked down one of the grooves in the rubber sole. The sad part? My nubuck ones that got a third of the wear, are starting to do the same thing, and these on sale were still 50 a piece. This is why I am so terrified of spending 175 on one pair of flats.
I can see how this sole will be more durable than my sawtooth ones were. But, does it cushion your feet from what is underneath you?
Are these flats going to be as comfortable as everyone claims if the wearer has high arches?
If I can take my shoes off after work and not feel my feet curl up in balls, I’ll gladly spend the money. But I won’t know how they feel, until I give them the ultimate test- a 12 HR day at work. And that means they won’t be returnable.
Please Help!!!
Sweetphi says
Hi there, great question. I have pretty high arches too, and i know what you’re saying about other shoes being awful – and in the heat? forget about it!
I DO think you would really like Tieks. I honestly don’t know how they do it – but the soles of the shoes are this beautiful turquoisey color, and they offer lots of protection and cushioning against the pavement. I’ve walked in the hot summers all over in them and didn’t have a problem. It is a big chunk of change, the the way I look at it is that I was buying flats at $50-$75 dollars a pair and would get horrible blisters and be uncomfortable and end up throwing them out after 3-4 months. I have had my one black pair for over a year now and worn them almost every day – no blisters, no pain, nothing! So it’s a trade off in my mind – do I want to buy 3 pairs of shoes that don’t work very well and that I’m just kind of getting by with, or splurge on one pair that is really comfortable and lasts me longer?
After buying my first pair, I can tell you that I won’t go back to wearing other flats 🙂 Hope that helps.
Michelle says
You avoided her question regarding the weather.
Sweetphi says
Hi Michelle, I’ve worn my Tieks in very hot climates (as you can see from the post I even wore them hiking in California) and heat was never an issue.
Estella Cocke says
I love Italian shoes, but they are a little pricey. I was in Germany for 5 years stationed with my husband – Italian shoes were very elegant and worth every penny. We are talking about a flat shoe and although it is made of Italian leather Tieks, I think they are expensive for a casual flat. I’m sure they are very comfortable but if that’s the only Italian shoe that one has owned you would know what I am saying, if you had purchased other line of Italian leather shoe.
Sweetphi says
Thank you for the comment Estella. I completely understand where you’re coming from, these shoes are on the pricey side. However, in my opinion, they are worth every penny! When I was in Europe (2 months ago) they were essentially life savers for me because I found I could walk for hours in them and my feet didn’t hurt at all (and I’m talking about walking 10-12 miles a day!)-it’s not just the soft leather, it’s the incredibly comfortable sole of the flat. If you have any recommendations on designer Italian leather shoes that offer the same benefits but at less of a price, I’d totally love to know about them and where to purchase them, because I truly have not found anything like these shoes anywhere else (again, just my opinion) 🙂

Sorry sweet phi I haven’t had coffee yet, I travel between Maui and Virginia (30 hr flights 4 to 5 times a year). Flip flops I can wash in a hotel shower and socks I can throw away are what I use when traveling. Feel sorta like a flower when I wear them.

I’ve always loved how colourful and versatile they are: they are funky yet feminine and can be elegant. But never would have thought to use them instead of hiking shoes 😀
I would wear them to a dinner date with my Boyfriend, it would be cute and fun and would complement any outfit. Also, this winter I had an ankle injury, spent 6 weeks in cast, and can’t wear heels for some time, it’s so hard finding cute and feminine flat shoes, these would be great even with my office outfits 🙂
Sweetphi says
Tieks are super adorable and feminine and elegant. And it’s not like I had planned on wearing the instead of hiking boots lol, my mom forgot hers so I lent her mine to wear, and was left wearing Tieks … which incidentally ended up being super awesome because they worked great and allowed me to really walk in them and now know how they handle in different situations 🙂 !!

This is such a great review! I do not currently own any Tieks…I myself have struggled with the price vs comfort debate. And have not pulled the trigger.
I’m thinking I should get some for my first trip over seas. My husband and I are finally able to cross off the #1 thing on both of our bucket lists, and will be traveling to Ireland this coming June.
Sweetphi says
I struggled with the price vs. comfort debate forever and finally pulled the trigger last year, and can tell you that Tieks are 100% worth it. They are the most comfortable shoe I have ever owned, ever! And Ireland?!? How cool! I did a little review of where my husband and I went this past February in Dublin, it’s such a gorgeous city, and Ireland as a whole is just so beautiful, hope you have SO much fun!

Hi Brandy – thank you so much for reading and following the blog 🙂 These flats truly are amazing, I waited forever to buy my first pair, and then after I got them wondered why in the world I had waited so long because they are so comfy. I would wear my Tieks to Longwood Gardens, one of my most favorite places on earth. We usually walk at least four miles when we visit, they have the beautifully cared for gardens and paths. I have always wondered about the Tieks, thanks for sharing your review!
Sweetphi says
Tieks are definitely worth it, I know I had questions of ‘are they worth it?’ before buying them, but I can tell you first hand that they are – they’re SO comfy (and cute!) They would be perfect for walking in the gardens (which sound lovely by the way). When my hubby and I were in Europe we walked 10-12 miles a day and I didn’t have any foot pain or issues at all. He even commented how impressed he was that I didn’t complain about my feet once (because in the past I’m sure I always had issues with other, non-Tieks.) Clearly Tieks rock!
Sandy Avery says
I would wear them every day. I appreciate the review because I have been wondering, too. I love your Paris photo! Thank you and keep up the great work.

I’ve been so curious about these for a long time! I am such a comfy shoes girl. I’d love to say that I’d wear these for the first time on an exciting trip to an exciting city I’ve never been to, but in all reality it would probably just be to Woodman’s!
Sweetphi says
Tieks are the most comfy shoes in the world, no joke (and I’m saying that after having purchased a bazillion different kind of shoes trying to find the right ones!) And hey – a trip to Woodmans is super exciting lol, I’ve been meaning to go again for the past year!

I am sold! I def am a flats girl – I think I might need to get a pair before my hubby and trek off to Europe this summer!

I am a flats girl too! I used to think I was a heels girl and wore them all the time, but after getting my first pair of Tieks, I can honestly say I haven’t worn any other shoes in months!! I would wear them everywhere every day, just like you, Phi. I’m a flats kinda girl due to an old ankle injury that prevents me from wearing heels of any kind any more….which makes me a little sad. I would definitely wear them to church, around the house, shopping, you name it! They are SO CUTE!
Sweetphi says
I think you would love them Denise! I definitely used to wear heels every day, but after getting my first pair of Tieks, I haven’t worn any heels or other shoes since! They are truly amazing and SO comfortable!

I would wear the cute Fuchsia Tieks on our trip to NY. I am a fan of fashion over function but these would allow me to have both! And I suspect the function aspect would be necessary to chase after two toddlers!

Melanie says

They were on my list so long too, and then after I got my first pair I was hooked, so I think you’d love them! Thank you for commenting!
shannon says
Great post, Phi!! I’ve been reading so much about these, too and have been super curious! I would wear them to Summerfest (apparently the big announcement is today!) because I’ve never had shoes that don’t give me blisters after long days on my feet in the middle of summer :D:D
Sweetphi says
Thank you so much for your super sweet comment! I totally hear you on having shoes that don’t give you blisters. I can honestly tell you that no other shoes have ever been as great as Tieks – they didn’t give me blisters or anything, and I literally wore them to explore a band new city (and even hiking because my mom forgot her hiking shoes so she borrowed mind and I wore Tieks) and still no foot pain or anything – they’re amazing! Can’t wait to hear the big announcement for Summerfest!
