I’m so excited to share this faves and life lately- 10 with the birth of the twins very quickly approaching (or at least it feels that way!), this one is all about Mamas and Babies. This topic is pretty much consuming my life right now as I try to prepare for the madness to come!
Food
First of all, let’s talk about pregnancy cravings. Pan style pizza. This has been my most recent craving. My cravings are coming at the end of this pregnancy. For the first (many) months, I could barely keep water down, more or less even thinking of having a pizza.
But, back to this pizza craving! I had just finished a delicious and healthy dinner of baked salmon and roasted zucchini and it hit me. I NEEDED pan pizza. Now, you may recall that I have a pretty yummy sheet pan pizza recipe, but I of course didn’t have the ingredients or time to make this. Luckily, my wonderful husband had just the place in mind – Jetts pizza. The delivery window was waaayyy too long, so he hopped in the car and picked up the best pizza I have ever had. Ok, well, at the time, it tasted like the best pizza I had ever had.
I love making kid friendly recipes. Heeelllooo, I wrote a whole book on it! Anyway, I recently crafted up this delicious healthy kids mac n’ cheese using Cabot Cheese, which is a fave in our house.
Because I’m fairly realistic, I know that life is about to get WAY busier when there are two more little ones around with Nick, Ben and I. So, I gave Yumble Kids a try. You know I love meal delivery services, so why not try one that is especially made for kids. I have a feeling Yumble will become a standard in our house. Ben is a pretty picky eater and there wasn’t one meal that he didn’t at least eat something from. Meals from Yumble contain no refined sugars and are nutritionist approved. So, we’re loving this as an option to help us when times get even busier.
And, in case you haven’t heard, perhaps most exciting thing right now is that my newest cookbook is out! This sure was a labor of love and I am so very proud of it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I loved writing it.
Baby Products
Well, we have finally started getting items for the twins room! Since space is of a premium, we opted to go with mini cribs this time around.
For Ben, we had gotten the lightest car seat on the market which has amazing safety features, so we are just going to buy a duplicate. Then we’ll need to purchase another base for the car, but then we’ll be set in the car seat department!
This one is for all of the toddler Moms out there. A friend of mine recommended this IKEA chair as a good transitional step out of a high chair. It was worth a shot because it’s totally cost-effective, when compared to other baby products. We bought one and are going to give it a shot since Ben is starting to try to crawl out of his high chair. For the record, this stool is also fantastic for kids!
Books
Have you read Mom Truths? If not, add it to your list now. Is is SO funny. I find it incredibly refreshing and reassuring to hear other people’s real life stories about imperfection. It’s nice to go beyond what you see on social media, where everyone’s lives look like they are perfectly put together!
Another must-read on your mom-friendly list is Stretched Too Thin. This is for any of you working Mom’s out there. I gave it as a gift to one of my best friends when she was headed back to work after maternity leave. It’s a good read about how to balance your new normal and not feel guilty about it.
I am absolutely loving this memory book for kids. It’s simple and beautiful, but best of all, it makes recording memories a process that isn’t so overwhelming. Stay tuned if I’ll actually be able to keep up when the babies arrive!
Kids books are the best. I’d say you can never have enough! So, these bookshelves are a live-saver. They don’t take up any floor space and they allow you to showcase your books a little bit like art. We ordered the for the twin’s room, but they aren’t quite installed yet. Hey, we still have time!
Home
Let’s be honest – I’m mostly focusing on one room in our house – the twin’s new room! Exciting news, if I haven’t mentioned it yet, we’re having one boy and one girl! That is so so exciting, but also, how’s a girl to decorate? Well, neutrals of course.
I know our laundry situation is about to get much worse! I mean, at least double right?! So, I’m going with an extra large hamper. Hopefully it’ll do for all the extra laundry we’re going to have.
For some extra fun in the room, we opted to go with this faux fur rug. It seems silly, but let me tell you, a friend of mine had this faux fur rug in her son’s nursery when he was born and she had some really lovely things to say about it, so it sold me! She had her rug right next to the crib, so every time she had to get him in the middle of the night, she loved the soft feel on her toes. Anyway, it sounds silly, but it sold me on a faux fur rug!
