Time is flying right by and now Ben is in Kindergarten! In this month’s Catching Up With The Kelnhofers you can take a peak at how Phi’s family wrapped up the end of summer and are kicking off a new school year.
It was sweltering outside, but we took the kids to the WI State Fair at the beginning of August. They were all such troopers and did so good with all the walking around the State Fair grounds, ice cream treats didn’t hurt either 🙂
Ben started soccer – 2 practices a week! I didn’t grow up in a “sports” family so all this is new to me.
One place we always have fun is the zoo – the zoo pass we got has seen a lot of use!
We took a suuuuper quick trip Up North to visit Nick’s grandparents. We left late night Friday after work and came back Sunday. Although short, it was still a wonderful trip, the kids loved it and were so good in the car (5 ish hours each way!) Sleeping was not so much fun (new environments and Frankie refusing to sleep in her pack and play, so she was in the bed and slept like a cat -on top of my head), made me laugh that 9 month old Sam was the best sleeper of all.
We had a few pool days – it’s so amazing to see how the kids grow with their comfort level with water. At the beginning of the summer Freddie wouldn’t even go near the pool, now he asks how many times he can jump in (he says his favorite is jumping in and having his aunt catch him).
Ben officially started Kindergarten! It feels like it happened so fast. He’s loving it so far. We’re still getting into the groove of it and I’ve found out he only eats lunch when I pack it for him (I think there were too many new foods he hadn’t had before). What’s crazy is how much he eats! I can’t even image what it’s going to be like in elementary and high school having 3 boys (and a girl who loves to eat!)
Nick randomly came across a fun pizza festival that we went to, they had such great wood-fired pizza!
Nick also found a late-season sunflower farm, who knew it would be one of my favorite things we did all summer, it was just gorgeous and beautiful!
This month the kids were in the kitchen a lot – they helped make sprinkle cookie bars, burgers, and tri colored pizza!!
