Today I’m going to share with you my favorite way to make pizza, and that is with a KettlePizza Gas Pro! KettlePizza makes attachments for your grill (both gas and charcoal) and makes pizza taste like it’s out of a wood oven. No joke! It’s honestly the best pizza you’ll ever have. AND there’s a giveaway for a KettlePizza Gas Pro at the bottom of this post. A KettlePizza would make the perfect Christmas gift for that special someone that is super hard to shop for!
A few years ago, my husband and I and his two sisters all chipped in and got my father-in-law a KettlePizza attachment for his charcoal grill. We made neapolitan wood fire pizza and were blown away by how well it worked. It truly made pizza taste like out of a wood oven. Since then, we’ve had many a pizza party, all thanks to the KettlePizza.
But what about those people who have gas grills? Well, the genius folks over at KettlePizza have recently come out with an attachment for gas grills.
Because my in-laws are all really into pizza, we decided to try out a KettlePizza Gas Pro to see how it compared to the charcoal grill inserts. The instructions were super easy to follow, and after a few minutes of set up, we were all set making pizzas. My husband, who mans the grill and cooks the pizzas was the first to chime in “wow, this gas one works great, the pizza gets done super fast!”
I too noticed how quickly the pizzas cooked. In 5 minutes, the pizza would be fully cooked, with beautiful wood-fire-like browning and puffing of the crust. And the taste? Wow, I’m telling you, you won’t find flavor like that anywhere else. It is so delicious and second to none.
One of the things we really enjoyed about the Gas Pro was how easy set up was. But most importantly, it’s how the pizza cooks so quickly, and comes out so perfectly. The crust crisps on the bottom and the outer edges of the crust puffs up and browns, and the toppings all melt.
It is truly spectacular. Since first using a KettlePizza years ago, it has become such a staple for pizza nights. It’s a shared family experience which is really fun for all. I cannot tell you how many family pizza parties we’ve had, all because of the KettlePizza. It’s so much fun to have a pizza get together.
Now let’s talk about the actual pizza itself. In the past, I’ve made a neapolitan pizza, a 5 ingredient jalapeno enchilada pizza, and 3 unique pizzas. For trying out the Gas Pro, I was definitely feeling the Mediterranean vibe, so I made one pizza with sun dried tomatoes, roasted red peppers, olives and artichoke hearts, and then another with some sausage and roasted red peppers, and then two with just veggies – one with fresh mozzarella and cherry tomatoes (I loved the simplicity of this one) and then lastly one with spinach and mushrooms and fresh mozzarella and instead of using pizza sauce, I just used olive oil. They were all so delicious!!
The dough was made by father-in-law, who is a true dough master. I tried rolling out one of the doughs, and let’s just say it was creative, at best (the dough recipe we use is the pizza dough recipe that KettlePizza recommends, a simple neapolitan dough). There was not one clear favorite pizza, everyone loved them all. I’m telling you – the KettlePizza makes for the best pizzas!
Giveaway time! Want to win a KettlePizza Gas Pro? You’re in luck! Today we’re giving away a Gas Pro Deluxe AP – it comes with a the KettlePizza, a thermometer, a 15″ cordierite stone, grilling gloves, and an aluminum pro pizza peel with a bottle opener (it is so cool) – a $299.95 value! Talk about an awesome Christmas gift. To be entered to win simply leave a comment telling us what kind of pizza you’d make with your KettlePizza, and then make sure to enter the widget (more optional entries available too.) - 2-4 tablespoons pizza sauce
- 1/2 cup mozarella cheese shredded
- 2 oz fresh mozzarella cheese sliced
- 1/4 cup cherry tomatoes halved
- For the spinach mushroom pizza:
- 1 pizza dough
- 2-4 tablespoons corn meal for the pizza peel
- 1-2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 garlic clove finely chopped
- 2 oz fresh mozzarella sliced
- 1/4 cup baby spinach
- 1/4 cup mushroom slices cooked
Instructions
- For the dough (this is a multi-day process)
- Combine flour, salt, and yeast in a large bowl and whisk until homogenous. Add water and incorporate into flour using hands until no dry flour remains on bottom of bowl. Cover bowl tightly with plastic wrap and allow it to rise at room temperature for 8 to 12 hours.
- Turn dough out onto lightly floured surface and divide into four even balls. Place each in a covered quart-sized deli container or in a zipper-lock freezer bag. Place in refrigerator and allow to rise at least 2 more days, and up to 4. Remove from refrigerator, shape into balls, and allow to rest at room temperature for at least 2 hours before baking.
- Set up the KettlePizza Gas Pro.
To make the sausage pizza:
- Roll one dough out on a lightly floured surface, then sprinkle a little bit of cornmeal on a pizza peel and place the dough on the peel and assemble the pizza. Spread pizza sauce around the pizza, sprinkle cheese around the pizza and then add the sausage pieces, mushroom slices, and roasted red peppers. Cook the pizza in the KettlePizza, using tongs, rotate the pizza after a 2 1/2-3 minutes, and remove the pizza when the edges start to turn brown and the cheese has melted, ours took about 5-7 minutes.
To make the artichoke pizza:
- Roll one dough out on a lightly floured surface, then sprinkle a little bit of cornmeal on a pizza peel and place the dough on the peel and assemble the pizza. Spread pizza sauce around the pizza, sprinkle cheese around the pizza and then add the artichoke hearts, black olives, roasted red peppers and sun dried tomatoes. Cook the pizza in the KettlePizza, using tongs, rotate the pizza after a 2 1/2-3 minutes, and remove the pizza when the edges start to turn brown and the cheese has melted, ours took about 5-7 minutes.
- To make the fresh mozzarella pizza.
- Roll one dough out on a lightly floured surface, then sprinkle a little bit of cornmeal on a pizza peel and place the dough on the peel and assemble the pizza. Spread pizza sauce around the pizza, sprinkle cheese around the pizza and then add the fresh mozzarella pieces and tomato halves. Cook the pizza in the KettlePizza, using tongs, rotate the pizza after a 2 1/2-3 minutes, and remove the pizza when the edges start to turn brown and the cheese has melted, ours took about 5-7 minutes. Because of the fresh tomatoes this pizza will be a little more liquidy, so let it sit for a few minutes before slicing.
- To make the spinach mushroom pizza.
- Roll one dough out on a lightly floured surface, then sprinkle a little bit of cornmeal on a pizza peel and place the dough on the peel and assemble the pizza. Spread olive oil around the pizza and sprinkle garlic on top of the olive oil. Then place the mozzarella slices around the pizza, and top with spinach and mushrooms. Cook the pizza in the KettlePizza, using tongs, rotate the pizza after a 2 1/2-3 minutes, and remove the pizza when the edges start to turn brown and the cheese has melted, ours took about 5-7 minutes.

I love making pizza at home, but sometimes turning the oven on 550 degrees when its already hot outside can be miserable. I’d love to win the Kettle Pizza for my outdoor grill. I like making pizza with strange combinations that just melt well together. The first pizza I would make starts with an olive oil base and I spread on roasted garlic, fresh spinach, sundried tomatoes, feta cheese, pine nuts, mozzarella and chopped basil.
Sweetphi says
I’m right there wish you, making homemade pizza and having to crank the oven all the way up kind of ruins the experience for me lol. I think you’d absolutely love the KettlePizza, and that pizza with the olive oil base sounds amazing. We found that pizzas with olive oil instead of the sauce makes for an extra crispy bottom and puffy crust – SO GOOD!

We need to try this! We used to love big delivery pizza but once we started eating healthier we lost the taste for it. Now it tastes greasy and tasteless. Homemade pizza is the answer and this oven looks like the answer. Thanks!

I have never heard of the Kettlepizza before, and now I simply must have one! I think I would roast up some veggies and add a little sausage or pepperoni to my pizza (for my meat-eating husband who will pick the veggies off).
Sweetphi says
A KettlePizza is definitely a must for pizza nights, it seriously makes the best pizza Denise. And you sound exactly like my hubby and I. I’m all about veggie pizzas and pick off the meat, whereas my hubby loves meat on his pizza and picks the veggies off lol!
