It’s the holidays and things are always busy, so instead of sharing a 5 ingredient recipe for 5 Ingredient Fridays, I figured I’d make it even easier and share a recipe with only 3 ingredients!

Ingredients to make mousse

So, what are the three ingredients you need?

  1. Heavy whipping cream
  2. Semi-sweet chocolate chips
  3. Vanilla extract

Chocolate mousse on a spoon

I love using little dishes like these for this mousse but there are SO many options to choose from! I’ve made this mousse in the past, but this 3 ingredient chocolate mousse recipe is even easier if you can believe it.  Plus, this mousse recipe is made with no eggs as well.  Which is great because I always feel like when I go to bake something I am one egg short every time, lol.

Ben loving this easy dessert

How do I make this easy mousse?

  1. In a microwave safe bowl, pour 1 cup heavy cream. Microwave for 1 minute. Remove from microwave and add in chocolate chips and stir; microwave for 30 seconds if all the chocolate chips don’t melt. Remove from microwave and add in vanilla extract. Let sit for 20 minutes, or until slightly thickened and cooled; stir a few times.

  2. In a large bowl, using a hand or stand mixer, beat remaining whipped cream until soft peaks form.

  3. Using a spatula, slowly fold in chocolate mixture until well combined.

  4. Spoon into serving bowls. Refrigerate for 1 hour (it will set even more!)

  5. Top with fruit and enjoy!

Yes, it really is that easy!  But, be warned, once you’ve made this mousse recipe, you’ll never look back.  I’m always looking for a recipe that can be made in a flash and serve everybody, even those with dietary restrictions.

At the holidays, I am always so busy making cookies for our family cookie tins that dessert always slips my mind.  Enter, this mousse to save the day!  This is a dessert everyone will love (including you as the hostess!)
