If there is one thing I know about BBQ, it’s that sometimes shortcuts aren’t the best. This sauce has quite a few ingredients and I’ve tried various ways to make it easier, but this homemade BBQ sauce recipe really is the best BBQ sauce ever and is worth making with all the ingredients, I promise!
If you’ve been following along for awhile, you may have tried my recipe for slow cooker ribs. This recipe for homemade bbq sauce is similar to the one I used for ribs, just tweaked and perfected, it’s one of my favorite homemade sauces of all time that I can’t wait to share with you.
This homemade bbq sauce recipe is good for slow cooker bbq recipes, for oven roasting recipes, and for grilling bbq chicken recipes! It’s an all-around amazing BBQ sauce!
Once you’ve made this sauce, you can also use it on your favorite chicken dish or even on pork. I especially like to use it when I’m making my bbq chicken salad. The sauce is so delicious, you can just grab a spoon and eat it by itself – I won’t judge!
Since Father’s Day is coming up, I actually plan to make an extra couple batches to give as gifts.

Food gifts are fun because you can pick a fun bottle and make a creative label. You know I love giving food gifts, like these brownies and this party mix. If you make this as a gift don’t forget to tag me on Instagram or Facebook or send me a picture!
With all of our days being pretty crazy right now, I’m finding that I never know what each day is going to bring, so I’m always prepping food ahead of time as much as possible. With this sauce, you can make it ahead of time and use it for the rest of the week. And it’s a very kid-friendly recipe, my 3 year old always snitches bites of it!
It’s also good to make for a freezer meal bbq chicken. What I do is make the sauce, put it in a bag with chicken breasts and throw it in the freezer. It’s also super good as slow cooker pulled bbq chicken (or pork) for sandwiches.
