I was driving down the street, the leaves were turning colors and it made me think of fall and caramel because I was making my salted caramel chocolate chip cookies. I know it sounds cheesy, but I’m not kidding.
I always use Fat Toad Farm goat’s milk caramel for the cookies, and I’d been wanting to reach out to tell them how much I love their product and company. That turned into a conversation with Calley, the owner, afterwhich, we decided to collaborate.
Calley Hastings is the co-owner of Fat Toad Farm Caramel; a small family-owned business located in the hills of Central Vermont. They have been producing hand crafted award-winning goat’s milk caramel for the past 13 years.
Fat Toad Farm Caramel is created in Brookfield, Vermont from fresh, locally sourced goat’s milk and simple, all-natural ingredients.
Their caramel sauces are based on the Mexican confection cajeta and are meticulously hand-stirred to velvety perfection. The family run business has spent the last decade mastering goat’s milk caramel making, resulting in a rich and creamy, not-too-sweet caramel that delivers an irresistibly complex flavor.

I am incredibly proud and impressed at how quickly we were able to get this product launch together. It was important to us to be able to get it in your hands before the holidays. We did all the ideas, taste testing, label designs, printing, photography, production all in less than two months…..and all virtually! We both run separate businesses and this was one of a million projects, so just WOW!
I stumbled upon this amazing caramel when I was in Seattle 10 years ago. I was walking down the street outside of Pike Place Market and there was a specialty food store giving out samples of pretzels dipped in caramel sauce. I tried the sample and it was SO good! I bought my first jar of caramel there, and the rest is history.
When we were developing this collaboration flavor, I knew it had to be salty and sweet because that is one of my fave combinations!
I’m known for my salted caramel chocolate chip cookies, so it was the perfect fit!
