A few years ago I randomly had some leftover pepperoni in the fridge and we were having some of my husbands’ family over for a Christmas round robin type event (where you go look at Christmas decorations at different family members’ houses) and I needed to make something and threw together this pepperoni dip. It was SO GOOD – literally GONE within minutes, my husband said I should write down the recipe. I put it in a random ideas note on my phone thinking nothing of it. We had the same event a year later, and I remembered, found the note and remade the dip with a little tweak. It was amazing and, again, gone! But I forgot to photograph it to share. So year 3 of making it, lol, I finally photographed it and am so excited to share.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • Minimal Ingredients: With just five ingredients, this dip keeps things easy without sacrificing flavor.
  • Quick and Easy: It takes only a few minutes to prep and is ready to serve in under 30 minutes.
  • Crowd-Pleasing: Whether you’re hosting a party or feeding hungry kids after school, this dip disappears fast.
  • Versatile: Pair it with crackers, bread, or veggies for endless dipping options.
  • Comfort Food Classic: The combination of melty cheese, savory pepperoni, and rich tomato sauce is unbeatable.

What ingredients do you need for pepperoni dip? (Measurements in the recipe card below)

  1. Cream cheese
  2. Sour cream
  3. Mozzarella cheese
  4. Onion powder
  5. Deli pepperoni

Customizations

  • Spice It Up: Add red pepper flakes or diced jalapeños for a kick of heat.
  • Vegetarian Option: Swap the pepperoni for diced bell peppers or olives to keep it veggie-friendly.
  • Extra Cheesy: Mix in additional cheese varieties like mozzarella or provolone for an even richer dip.
  • Gluten-Free: Serve with gluten-free crackers, tortilla chips, or fresh veggies to accommodate dietary needs.

Tips for Success

  • Don’t overbake the dip – Bake just until the cheese is melted and bubbly to keep the dip creamy.
  • Serve the dip warm – This dip tastes best fresh from the oven when the cheese is perfectly melted.
  • Use a shallow baking dish – A shallow dish allows the dip to heat evenly and creates the perfect ratio of cheese to sauce.

What kind of pepperoni do you use in this dish?

  • I like to use deli pepperoni, but you can use any kind you’d like.  To chop the pepperoni, I always use kitchen shears – making it super easy!

  • Classic Pairings: Serve this dip with crackers, crostini, pretzels, vegetables, baguette slices, or tortilla chips.
  • Low-Carb Options: Pair it with celery sticks, bell pepper strips, or cucumber rounds for a keto-friendly snack.
