Enter Hungryroot – a meal delivery service that provides both easy-to-prepare meals, snacks, and groceries!! I’ve tried just about every meal delivery service under the sun (post here where I compare meal delivery services) and this one seems like it’s combined my favorite features of different services.
So let’s start with the basics – what is Hungryroot?
Hungryroot is a meal delivery service that delivers healthy meals that can be made as well as snacks and groceries that are delivered to your doorstep on a weekly basis (you can pause any time – I usually do every other week or every third week). They offer a wide range of options to fit different dietary needs – gluten free, vegan, vegetarian and low carb!
How does it work?
You simply sign up for an account and take their quiz so they understand your preferences. Then, each week you’ll receive a box of pre-portioned ingredients to make into meals (that are ACTUALLY EASY and take like 10-15 minutes, this has been my favorite part of Hungryroot). You can customize your delivery by selecting meals, snacks, groceries…this also is another thing i love. You can add meals, you can add snacks, you can add groceries. With other meal delivery companies if you have a 2 meal plan you get 2 meals a week, period. With Hungryroot you can add meals and then add on as many groceries as you need, magical!!
Pros
Convenience! Omg, this service is so amazing and easy to use – and it just comes right to your door.
The meals are actually good – such great healthy options for dinner, and EASY. For example we got these flatbread things, it was flatbreads, marinara sauce, cheese, and pre-made turkey meatballs (which were omg so good) and then a spinach salad and dressing on the side. Delicious and easy and things my kids would actually eat.
Super quick – no meals have taken longer than 15 minutes to make.
Love the high quality healthy options!
Sooo customizable – like nothing I’ve seen with any other service (and I’ve tried them all). And it’s not just the food that’s flexible and customizable, you can easily pause your account any time.
They have a great app, easy to use!
Cons
Price – there’s a big caveat to this point. So, while yes, Hungryroot can be a little pricier than other meal delivery services, after the first delivery I literally imputed every single item in my box into Whole Foods for an order for pickup, and with Whole Foods it would have been $45 more (and this comes to your door with recipes).
Meal ingredients weren’t packaged together or with a recipe card – I had to download the app for instructions on what to make.
If you’re unsure about pricing, check this out! What it would have been $196 – I paid $150 for my entire box and contents.
If you’re looking for a super convenient, healthy meal delivery and grocery option, I cannot recommend Hungryroot enough. Out of all the meal delivery options I’ve tried, this is the one I’m most excited to share about. Their food makes me feel good and like I’m feeding my family good food.
