This 5-Ingredient Mediterranean Feta Dip has been my go-to no-cook party appetizer for years, and I get asked to bring it all the time! It’s ridiculously simple—fresh tomatoes, green onions, a block of feta, Mediterranean seasoning, and good olive oil—but somehow those five ingredients turn into the most flavorful, fresh, scoopable dip. It takes just minutes to put together, requires absolutely no cooking, and is one of those recipes that proves you really don’t need a long ingredient list to make something everyone goes back for.
Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- Only 5 simple ingredients.
- No cooking or baking required.
- Comes together in about 10 minutes.
- Fresh, salty, savory, and packed with Mediterranean flavor.
- Perfect for making when you need a party appetizer FAST.
- Easy to transport for parties, potlucks, and gatherings.
- Delicious with pita, naan, crostini, or crusty bread.
- Most importantly: I get asked to bring this one again and again.
Why Should You Use Block Feta Instead of Pre-Crumbled Feta?
This is the one ingredient note I really don’t want you to skip: buy a block of feta and crumble it yourself. I’ve made this for years, and pre-crumbled feta just does not taste as good in this recipe.
Block feta tends to be creamier and less dry, so when you crumble it into the tomatoes, green onions, seasoning, and olive oil, everything comes together beautifully. Pre-crumbled feta often contains anti-caking ingredients that keep the pieces separate, which is great for convenience but not what I want here.
I traditionally use Président Fat Free Feta, but another good-quality block feta will work too.

Tips for Success
- Use block feta. If there is one tip to remember, this is it. Skip the pre-crumbled feta.
- Use ripe tomatoes. Since there are only five ingredients, flavorful tomatoes make a noticeable difference.
- Chop everything fairly small. You want tomato, green onion, and feta in every scoop.
- Start with less Mediterranean seasoning. Different blends vary in saltiness and intensity, so start with about 1 tablespoon, taste, and work your way up.
- Don’t skip the olive oil. It brings everything together and turns the chopped ingredients into more of a scoopable dip.
- You’ll know it’s ready when the feta and vegetables are evenly coated in olive oil and seasoning and there’s a little bit of everything in each scoop.
What Is Mediterranean Seasoning?
Mediterranean seasoning blends typically contain a mix of dried herbs and savory spices such as oregano, basil, garlic, onion, parsley, and sometimes salt or pepper. The exact blend varies by brand, so you may need to adjust the amount depending on what you use.
This is one of those spice blends that I genuinely think is worth buying. A container is usually inexpensive, lasts a long time, and you can use it on chicken, vegetables, potatoes, salads, and dips—not just this recipe.

Customizations and Variations
- Use regular full-fat feta if you can’t find the Président fat-free feta.
- Add chopped cucumber for extra crunch.
- Add Kalamata olives if you love a briny flavor.
- Add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice for extra brightness.
- Sprinkle in red pepper flakes if you want a little heat.
- Add fresh parsley or basil when you have it.
- Serve it over greens and turn leftovers into an easy Mediterranean-style salad.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Can I use pre-crumbled feta? Technically yes, but I really recommend buying a block and crumbling it yourself. The texture and flavor are noticeably better in this simple recipe.
- Can I use regular feta instead of fat-free feta? Absolutely. I traditionally use Président Fat Free Feta, but a good-quality full-fat block feta works perfectly.
- How much Mediterranean seasoning should I use? Start with about 1 tablespoon, stir and taste, then add more as needed. Depending on your seasoning blend, you may want as much as 2–3 tablespoons.
- Can I make Mediterranean dip ahead? Yes. You can make it several hours ahead and refrigerate it, although the tomatoes will release more juice as they sit. Give everything a good stir before serving.
- What tomatoes work best? Any ripe, flavorful tomato works. Roma tomatoes are useful if you want less liquid, while garden or vine-ripened tomatoes have fantastic flavor.
- Is this served hot or cold? It’s a no-cook dip served chilled or at cool room temperature.

Storage
- Store: Keep leftover Mediterranean feta dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2–3 days.
- Before serving again: Give everything a good stir because the tomatoes will naturally release juice as they sit.
- Refresh: Add a small drizzle of fresh olive oil or a little extra Mediterranean seasoning before serving leftovers.
- Freeze: I would not freeze this dip; the tomatoes and feta will lose their best texture.

What to Serve with Mediterranean Feta Dip
This is very much a put-it-in-the-middle-of-the-table-and-let-everyone-dig-in kind of appetizer. Serve it with:
- Warm pita bread
- Pita chips
- Naan
- Crostini
- Sliced baguette
- Crackers
- Cucumber slices
- Bell pepper strips
There are recipes I make once or twice, and then there are recipes like this Mediterranean Feta Dip that somehow become part of my life. I’ve been making this one for years, people specifically request it, and I still love that something so incredibly simple gets such a big reaction. Five ingredients, no cooking, ten-ish minutes, DONE. This is exactly the kind of party recipe I want forever.

HI, what exactly is in the Mediterranean spice? The only thing I can find is a Mediterranean salt.

Hi Pat, thank you for your comment! Mediterranean Sea Salt by McCormick is what is I use and it can be found in most grocery stores in the seasoning isle (the Mediterranean seasonings is basically a combination of sea salt, thyme, oregano, rosemary, and a tiny bit of red pepper flakes I think) Thanks!
