If you’re ever looking for a super quick and easy appetizer that is incredibly delicious, look no further than this 5 ingredient raw honey and goat cheese appetizer. The flavors go so well together – sweet notes from apricot jam melds perfectly with the smooth and creamy goat cheese which is then topped with raw honey and is topped with fresh basil, all complimented by the crunch from pistachios making it one appetizer your guests will love!
The combination of goat cheese and honey with some nuts has been my favorite quick appetizer for forever. I would simply put a little goat cheese log on a plate, drizzle it with some honey, top it with some nuts (almonds, walnuts or pecan halves) and then set it out with some crackers.

After I tried raw honey for the first time, I was so surprised that it tasted like candy, I fell completely in love with it. Truth be told, I didn’t even know it was a ingredient that one could buy at the store, but sure enough, I went to my local health food store and as I’m walking through the aisle I saw raw honeycomb!
Did you know that it takes pollen from over 2 million flowers to make 1 pound of honey? Isn’t that crazy? For more honey facts, you can check out this or this article from Best Food Facts.
As another Five Ingredient Friday is upon us, I thought it only fitting to share one of my favorite recipes, revamped with inspiration from my trip. I used raw honey to top the goat cheese (the center is sweet and much like honey you might be used to, but then has these nice sweet bits of honeycomb that add a nice texture), and then used pistachios (another thing I learned I’m completely in love with on the trip) instead of the nuts I had used previously. Pistachios are great in this recipe because they’re a member of the cashew family and have a milder flavor than some other nuts. To make everything come together, I topped off the appetizer with fresh basil. It adds that hint of freshness and brings the dish together.
All in all, this appetizer takes no longer than 5 minutes to put together! I love dishes that are quick like that! So the next time you’re looking for an appetizer to bring to a get together and are short on time, bring this raw honey goat cheese appetizer. And I’m dying to know, what’s your favorite type of honey? Have you ever had raw honey?

Thank you so much for this recipe. I had friends coming over last night and had some goat cheese hanging around so I tried it. AWESOME! Plus it took almost no time to make. I had the leftovers for breakfast on toast this morning. Mmmmmm.
Next time I think I’ll try it warm.

Wonderful idea Phi! Serving fresh goat/sheep cheese with honey (like myzithra) is very common here, especially in the island of Crete. Adding nuts and jam is a different excellent approach though and we can’t wait to try this!
Regarding honey Panos’s great-grandfather was a local beekeeper in the north of Athens (back then those suburbs were practically small villages around Athens). So, his grandparents taught him lots o f stuff regarding honey. And frankly, there’s something in his DNA left, ’cause he’s devouring it in large quantities (he’s looking with a guilty smile as I type those lines and read what I commented on your recipe).
If you can find any Greek honey give it a try. Almost all Greek production is organic and free of chemicals, as pure as it gets, you’ll really appreciate it.
Your appetizer will be served tomorrow, we’ll be at Evia island for the weekend, at Panos’ parents house which is located between pines and olives, in a wonderful country setting.
Have a wonderful weekend, full of joy and smiles!
Lots of greetings from both!

Have a wonderful week,
