All you need to make this amazingly delicious quick guacamole recipe is 5 ingredients!
Avocados are so delicious in guacamole, aren’t they? And while I’m sure there are one million and one different ways to make guac, sometimes all I want to do is have a quick version that can be used for dinner or as a side for dipping chips and vegetables in, a guac that doesn’t take forever to make so that I can get to it faster.
Am I right? You want to enjoy your guac as soon as you can…so there’s two little tools I’m going to tell you about that make making smooth delicious guac a breeze every time. The first is this avocado slicer by oxo – it is such a cool little tool, it slices the avocados perfectly and then has this cool little contraption that pits the avocados, definitely worth the $10 of the tool alone (I don’t know about you, but getting out the pit of an avocado is the pits – lol). The second tool is an avocado masher. When I first heard of an avocado masher I just rolled my eyes. “Great, another useless kitchen tool I don’t need” I thought to myself, but then I was gifted one when I attended a conference I went to in Oregon (that’s also where I heard about the OXO avocado slicer and their produce keepers that I use all the time) and it seriously is such a cool tool that actually works when mashing guacamole.
Because really, when I make this recipe I usually have to double it because I’m making it for friends and family, or as a side to go with these steak fajita tacos or these 5 ingredient salsa chicken tacos, and don’t forget those margaritas!
But really, guacamole and chips are one of my all time faves. Creamy avocados mixed with some fresh ingredients like tomatoes, onions, cilantro and a zip from lime juice, all mixed together, YUM!
This recipe is just that – quick and easy and delicious, and with only five ingredients it fits the bill for this weeks’ Five Ingredient Friday.

I also live and WI, and cannot get good avocados here! Even this time of year, if I find them, I end up with somewhat decent avocados for like $2 each! (they were ON SALE for $1.75 a piece a our local grocery store the other day.)

I know exactly what the struggle is like to find good avocados here in WI! I’ve found that I always buy an extra one because some of one and some of another won’t be good. When one opens that perfect avocado it’s like a little party, isn’t it?

I love how everyone has their own guac recipes and they all have their own little twists on them. I always put tomato in mine, as I like the sweetness.

I love seeing different guacamole recipes too! I always add tomato to mine, it definitely makes it have a hint of sweetness and also adds to the smooth creamy texture 🙂

Thank you again for a great recipe. I will buy red onions at the Farmers’s market. Also I want to try the avocado slicer. The photos “look” delicious.

Thank you so much for the lovely comment! I love red onions in the guacamole because they add that extra zip of flavor that brings the dish together, also, the avocado slicer is a total time saver, it is a very cool kitchen tool!

oh girl this looks SO good and lucky me I only need 4 ingredients because I think you know which one I’ll be leaving out 😉 but in all seriousness, I would even probably eat cilantro if you made this for me hah! Love you and this delicious EASY recipe!
Sweetphi says
Haha, girl, for you I would make it without cilantro (every time I use cilantro now I think of you and how I would modify the recipe if I were to make it for you!) With all the crazy busy days lately, I’m all about easy! Thank you so much for your comment, as always!! <3 you!

That is indeed an excellent guacamole for chips! We add the tomato as well when we want something plain, like chips, to accompany it. We do omit it though in case of guacamole used as a side for grilled fish (and add garlic).
Perhaps we mentioned it in some older comment, but we started using avocado only recently. You see it’s very rare and exotic, like mangoes and pineapples here in Greece:)
Once we made our first guacamole and used it in grilled fish sandwiched, you should’ve been there to see both our faces!:) Wow. Just wow.
Thank you for another wonderful alternative for this delicious spread Phi! It will be put into use very very soon!
Have a beautiful weekend dear!

I did not know that avocados were so rare in Greece, but it makes sense…we have them in abundance from California and Mexico here in the US! My husband isn’t the biggest fan of tomatoes, so he would definitely opt for a version with garlic instead of tomatoes haha! Guacamole with chips is such a great snack (or meal for me on busy nights :)) Have a great week!
