Ever wondered how to season burgers without buying a ginormous jar of a seasoning mix that you’ll probably never use? I’m here to share with you the best easy burger seasoning mix! It’s savory, has a hint of sweetness, and is all-around perfection.
Your burgers never tasted as good as with this burger seasoning mix, so let’s dive in on how to make the perfect burger seasoning mix.
What usually happens in our house is that my husband will want to grill burgers, and he’ll just go get burger patties to throw on the grill. It’s great, but then the question of how to season them comes up.
In the past, we’ve purchased different seasoning mixes, but they get forgotten about (I was going through my spice cabinet and found a seasoning mix that had an expiration date of 7 years ago…oops) or they’re lacking just the right flavor combination I’m looking for.
I love making homemade seasoning mixes for things because you can make a small amount to use! In my Fast and Easy Five-Ingredient Recipes: A Cookbook For Busy People book I shared 3 of my favorites: Mexican/taco seasoning, Mediterranean seasoning and Italian seasoning – worth the price of the cookbook alone if you ask me, I personally use them ALL the time!
This homemade burger seasoning is so easy to good and really takes your burger to the next level! How do you make burger seasoning? Simple! All you do is combine paprika, brown sugar, garlic salt, salt and pepper and sprinkle on burgers before they go on the grill.
Seasoning topped burgers grill up perfectly and add the most amazing flavor to your burgers. What I love about this seasoning is also how versatile it is. It goes great on beef burgers, turkey burgers, chicken burgers or veggie burgers! You’ll be the star of all bbq’s with this easy homemade burger seasoning!

Thank you for your feedback – I’m so surprised to hear this. I’ve used this seasoning on turkey burgers/beef burgers. Could you let me know if you made any modifications?
Vickie says
Can you put the seasoning in the meat instead of on top . please reply thank you.
Sweetphi says
Hi- you totally could- it’s better if it’s on top because the brown sugar caramelizes as it cooks, but it would be good mixed in too 🙂

Am I to use regular paprika or smoked paprika? Thank you!
Sweetphi says
You could use whatever you prefer. I prefer regular paprika 🙂

I tried this out the other night and it was delicious!
I did make some tweaks to it by adding some Worcestershire sauce to each patty and also adding about a teaspoon of a 6 pepperblend with dill.
Sweetphi says
Oh those additions sound great, thank you for sharing!!

Just made some burgers for the family using this seasoning and it adds a great flavor. Not overwhelming, but strong enough to taste the difference. Thank you!

Hey SweetPhi I was just wondering if the seasoning can be stored
Sweetphi says
What a great question! Yes, it can be stored like any other seasoning. What I do is make a big batch of this (I multiply the recipe by like 8 or 10) and then put it in an empty spice container and label it and store it with my other seasonings, so then when I want a burger I can just use it and have it ready to go!
