Start your morning off right with this refreshing strawberry orange protein smoothie! Made with only four ingredients: strawberries, oranges, orange juice and Greek yogurt, you’ll be amazed at how flavorful this smoothie is!
If you’ve been following this blog for a while, you may remember that last summer, Nick and I were really trying to eat better, so we started the summer of smoothies and salads. I shared a ton of recipes, but smoothies never get old, so I have another one that is great for the start to your summer! The more we have been making smoothies, the more Ben has been loving them. So, I will keep on making them and sneaking fruits and veggies into Ben’s diet wherever possible. And, really, as I’ve been through a whole lot of ups and downs with this pregnancy with twins, sometimes smoothies are the only thing I can do to get proper veggies into my diet.
To make this smoothie, just follow a few simply steps:
- Peel orange and separate into sections and slice strawberries
- Place oranges, strawberries, yogurts, water and ice in blender and blend for 1-2 minutes
I prefer to enjoy smoothies right away, but you know I love anything I can prep ahead also. You can make this smoothie into a ‘smoothie bag’ by adding prepped strawberries and oranges into a freezer baggie, label it, and then when you’re ready to make the smoothie, just add the contents of the bag to a blender along with some water.
If you don’t have any orange juice on hand or don’t like the added sugar, you could simply use freshly squeezed orange juice from another orange (or add another orange in and omit the orange juice). If you like things a tad bit sweeter, this smoothie is also good with a dash of honey, or made with vanilla almond milk, or made with coconut water instead of water.
- 1 orange, peeled and sliced
- 1 cup strawberries, cored and sliced (or use frozen sliced strawberries)
- 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 1 cup water
- 1-2 cups ice
- Peel orange and separate into sections
- Place orange slices, strawberry slice, yogurt, orange juice, water and ice in a blender and blend for 1-2 minutes
- Pour into two glasses and enjoy
